:rolleyesold:
well, hi there.
This is my second bottle GIT, my first bottle was a tester from fragrancenet, which I believed to be real, had a lot number engraved on the bottom, and smelled just like in the store, and had a noticeable difference to my cool water. Fast forward about 1.5~2 years I'm out and its time to order a new one... just so happens i had a bonus 20% off any order waiting in my email (how convienint :rolleyesold: )
Anyways my problem with this bottle (gut says its real, but brain saying the stuff isn't matching)

Things that trigger me to think its not real (compared to other threads I have seen on the net):
The box, no gold emblem on the front,
Different looking back side,

Inside, missing the card of authenticity (i think that is what its called)
not the card with the pictures on it but the other one with all the writing (seen in other threads)

On the bottle... no engraved lot number on the buttom rim :undecided:
I've read some things yelling its fake, others saying its grey market.

here are a bunch of photos, maybe you guys can help me.
as far as smell, It smells like i remember my old one (been empty for 4 months now :S )

Thank you in advanced for your help :)

Looks fine to me. If you got it again at Fragrancenet - no worries IMO.

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

Looks real, nice crisp embossing on the box, correct cap and nozzle, if it's from Walgreens/Fragrancenet it's fine. 2011 batch if the whole code thing is correct. For some reason GIT does seem to get stronger once some air gets into the bottle.

Notice how the word MILLESIME has an ' over the E.....

I notice your box doesn't the MILLESIME spelled with the ' on the front.

Notice how the back doesn't have MILLESIME with the ' over the E.

Creed does this to throw off counterfeiters.

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

Thanks for the quick replies,
This is what is throwing me off
there is no engraved serial number, and the box is completely different from others I've seen, different fonts, missing gold, and different layout.

Frosty, what year did you purchase yours? and what lot code year does yours have?

I'm wondering if they changed box designed b/c by code mines 2011 production year. (which is pretty new, i'll have to check my old bottle when I get home bought it in 09 I believe )
smell, is very similar to what i remember my old bottle ( that had engraved lot number)

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

It has an engraved # just not on the rim. Please stop being paranoid. They change the boxes all the time also. If you got it from fragrancenet its real end of story.

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

I just checked my boxes, have two current GIT's, neither has the accent over the Millesime, and there are other differences, my batch is another 2011 one. I have gold trim and sides are somewhat different, mine says fondee a londres en 1760 on the front as well. I think the boxes do vary a lot from country to country. The batch I have matches the number of a batch that someone on BN got at the Paris store. I think there are a lot of grey market differences. The main thing is the bottle and the scent, and I'm sure mine is not fake. The fakes tend to have misspellings. Mine has eau de parfum on the sticker on the bottom, yours says toilet water, which I think is used in different countries, as I've heard of that occurring, plus no engraving on the back of mine and lot number is ink jet printed on the bottom. It's a nightmare trying to keep up with the differences in authentic stuff.

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

As of late last year Creed took the gold of several of the boxes...helps lower their packaging cost. The sharpness of the box embossing and the distinctive stamping in the cap tell me your bottle is the real deal. Fakes of GIT and Original Vetiver are all over eBay, however.

multipost lag
Thanks Mesa, That is why I'm thinking it is real also.

It smells real, and its from a reputable dealer, not an ebay special :D
-Heperd, that is exactly why I posted here, hoping someone like you would confirm they change the box design :)

Thank you all! :D

p.s., Correct me if I'm wrong but the fakes don't have lot numbers that I recall, and I'm sure someone here has the same lot as you do.

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

picked it up for $136 :)
Could of got another tester for $110, but I wanted the cap and box :S haha,
my old tester was good, but had no cap or box, so it was more difficult to travel with, and the cap looks cool ! :p

I might of been able to get it from Walgreens for cheaper, theirs is listed at $140

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

It's real, but the most telling aspect is the smell.

That being said, the fake I got aside from the smell being way off, had a bunch of telling signs. Details commonly missed are the white plastic under the sprayer, "creed" absent from the sprayer top, and the cap being 1 piece instead of 2. Also my box said "Yreen Irish Tweed"...so yea.

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

It's real. I too have exactly the same bottle, i.e. plain white logo on box, no gold trim, etc.
Good cap, good nozzle, good card...all good and genuine.
Slight difference though is that mine has the lot no. engraved on the bottom rim. But I wouldn't be too worried if I were you.

The bottle showed by frostyicy is probably a more recent version of the box, which has the accent over the 'e' in 'Millesime'. This happens with my more recent acquisitions, e.g. Royal Oud and Silver Mountain Water.

Most fakes now have 'creed' engraved on nozzle nowadays I think.
One sign I'd point out is that 'MADE IN FRANCE' at the bottom is often misspelt 'FRANOE'...LMAO...

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

Looks completely real to me. The box is the same one I bought back in February. I would have no worries buying from Fragrancenet. With their clientele, if they sold fakes, they would be out of business really fast.

One thing people keep missing is that all fragrances change over time, especially ones with a lot of natural materials in them. This is not necessarily a bad thing as I think the better brands actually improve with a little age, like the better wines. If your previous GIT was several years old by the time you finished it, it would smell different from a fresh batch and probably different from when you first bought it.

Pretty sure he figured out it was real yesterday. Probably wont be back for another couple of years when he buys another bottle and needs to verify its authenticity.

I don't take it personal :)
I'm very active over on a photography forum so i feel what you're saying :)

Thanks everyone,
My old bottle was an 08 batch purchased in 09 when i was a sophomore in college, It's my most complemented fragrance,
I used the last of it back in december on my trip to china.
This will probably be the only one i take with me on my upcoming trip to thailand for 6months~ just need to be sure to pack it in the check baggage!

Also feel free to use any of the pictures in a "real/fake" GIT thread

have to pay for it still myself x.x, but the cost of living over there is a lot less then what it is here :), same with traveling once you get there.

+1 ... I've noticed that with just about all Creeds. The more it gets used, the better the smell.

Ill stay away from the WG. Creed. and for as Frag.net its probably old Creed.. $300 bottle going almost half the price most like something isnt right about it.. just buy it from an authorize dealer and youll be 100% sure.

I recently got my GIT from Fragrancenet. It's a 2011 batch and smells great and has great longevity. I can't imagine paying triple the price to get it from an authorized retailer. I don't think it'd be any better/different.

Bottle colours for GIT really is a FAQ. The black bottle is simply the large size, 120ml. All other sizes are clear (see-through).

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

thanks a lot kinda marketing stuff

Yes, quite possibly marketing. Personally, I've never understood why they're different. Still, it should hopefully protect the juice inside from direct sunlight exposure. Anyone else know for certain why the difference?

The clear GIT is tester. And of course the black one is the main one.. also the other creeds blends bottles differ as well..

If you believe so go ahead. You will.always be in doubt if its real or old.. I rather have piece of mind and buy it at an authorized dealer then I know I'm getting the real deal. Until I can a good confirm why the price are so different I wouldn't buy creed from frag.net. 300 to 150 something ain't right. Just like everythings else when the price are cut its either old, fake, used, or stolen.

Re: Yet another... Is my Creed Green Irish Tweed FAKE??

Bite the bullet and buy the real thing from N-M, Creed boutique, etc., and if you can't get to a bricks and mortar store, buy online from them. That way you will know that it is real, you will not be supporting the gray market and you will have recourse if something goes wrong. Luxury costs money and if you cannot afford to pay retail, then buy something else that is within your budget. It is a wonderful scent---great taste on your part!

Good advice. Many people want nice good things but dont wanna pay the price. They rather take a chance. Like u said if ya can't afford it buy something else.
