Coloration Vanillin in Soaps

Hello everyone,

I am studying coloration that occur in consumer fragrance and I was wondering what reaction occurs when vanillin is added to a soap? Am I correct to say that it is an oxidation reaction that occurs and that this oxidation occurs faster under basic conditions? Is it correct then to assume that the oxidation is from vanillin to vanillic acid?
