Picked this one up today.

Price? Where did you find it if we may ask? Now this one is a legend in my domain. Congrats. Vintage rocks! The current formulation of this one is no where near what it used to be.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I'd like to get an estimate on how old my bottle of Eternity is. I seem to remember purchasing it in the late 90's but I can't remember, and all I have is the bottle. (Why didn't I keep the box?!?!?!)

Identification points:
- the front of the bottle says "for men" in lower case
- the front of the bottle shows "eau de toilette spray" and "vaporisateur"
- bottom label says "Calvin Klein Cosmetics" (phew, it's not Coty)
- bottom label lists "Calvin Klein Cosmetics NY 10022" but also "Paris Milano Wien" and "Made in USA"
- bottom label has the GreenDot
- bottom label shows "77% vol"
- batch code is B074

Thanks for any help!

Good job on your find!

I wore Eternity from 89-92 (along with everyone else). It was powerful to be sure, but it's not like you had to put on any more than you needed.

Forgotten by today's younger hopefully healthier generation is just how smoke-filled bars and clubs were back when Eternity came out.
I stationed was in Tokyo when I was wearing it, and the Japanese men and the other foreigners smoked even more than we American servicemen (though I didn't smoke). After hitting the town, I had to turn my jacket inside-out and let it air out for at least a day to get the smoke smell out of it!

Point is I suspect that those "powerhouse" fragrances were strong because they needed to be in order to cut through all the damn cigarette smoke.

I'd love to have a vintage bottle to see if it triggered any scent-memories :)

Btw, about the year of the vintage bottles you have questions about:

I've never researched it, but having worn the original, the one thing I can recall for sure is that my 89-92 bottles were full-sized and they had a smaller tops like this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-CA...756841?hash=item2f15c5f169:g:WtgAAOSwZvRahHQY

They did not have a large prominent T-shaped top like this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Et...297077?hash=item3d59a9acb5:g:HbIAAOSwA29Y5VsZ

I hadn't seen that T shaped cap before. Looks much nicer than the later version CK fragrances.

Thanks for your responses! and I've never tried this vintage, although like the later versions well (2000s).

I've ordered these and I'll try it and let you know my thoughts , as well.

Thanks much!

Because I saw it on eBay advertised as vintage Eternity cologne...just said it wasn't the bottle I remembered, didn't say it was for men (though I had mistakenly assumed so).

Eternity and Obsession..my very first fragrances as an 18yo
My brother wore eternity while I preferred obsession.
Early 90's nice memories.

Sorry for bringing up a dead thread, i just had to add my two-cents for this legend.
Eternity was the one that started it for me.
I remember going into town with my friend back in the mid 90s 'aged 14 or so' and we would walk through the department store and spray a fragrance.
I picked up Eternity and gave a few pumps to my neck and went out. The weather was really cold and my jacket was zipped right up, and the wafts i got from the Eternity just put me in such a happy place ☺👌
Fast forward 25 years and i have tried thousands of fragrances.. and own over 300 bottles, but Eternity still has a very special place in my collection.
I own a couple of vintage bottles 'CK Cosmetics' along with Unilever, but just this week I managed to add the very first formulation 'see photos' 💚
Some of the older CK fragrances were gorgeous, CK One, Calvin, Obsession etc are true legends and are criminally under-appreciated by 99% of today's fragrance community.
Gotta show love to the classics.

Q: Was Eternity for Men first offered as a "Cologne" and then as an EDT? I've seen two older looking bottles with only Eternity for Men and Calvin Klein on the front, and one bottle with Cologne and Calvin Klein Cosmetics Made in USA on the bottom label, and the other with eau de toilette (lower case) Calvin Klein Cosmetics Made in USA on the bottom. I ask also because I see an Eternity for Men Cologne released in 2020.

All I know is that I have a new batch from a few years ago and its fantastic.
Coty has kept Eternity and Obsession in good condition. I had a bottle of Eternity in the early 90's but it's been too long to compare with newer batches.
What surprised me with the new batch is just how great it smells.
Very minimal and timeless.
And a compliment getter.

Back in the day they used "Cologne" just to mean fragrance even though it was an EDT. I have vintage bottles of Obsession as well which are "Cologne Spray", but perform more like an EDP. They are EDT at the very least. Now it's popular to use Cologne as a flanker name. I'm curious to try the Cologne flanker. I don't get my hopes up with anything CK these past few years.

Woah good to see you posting! You sold me some Tom Ford decants a few years ago that I’m still working on. Also, I agree with you in a past post about how current Obsession is like a diet version of the vintage - I smelled the new stuff recently and while it’s nice it’s a shadow of its former self.

Hey ya I remember. Amazed you still have decant left after so long. I think this is the only thread I get alerts for. Obsession and Eternity bring back all the college memories.

I don't know if it's worth to pay big money for vintage Eternity for Men. I had the reform around 2018, and later got a vintage bottle. The vintage does last until the next morning. And to my nose, I feel that the dry down is every so slightly more nuanced. The top notes have the faintest hint of "dirtiness." I can't tell if that's old school nuance, or if it's turned ever so slightly.

I'll probably be getting a back-up in the form of the latest reform. The reform has a brighter opening which I appreciate, and it still smells really good. I don't think I've found an acceptable replacement for it. Acqua Quorum and Perry Ellis Reserve didn't have that perfection that CK has.
