Hello Basenoters!

What are your favorite books that are filled with some (or many) high quality, useful bases, accords, and perfume formulas?

I know the answer lies somewhere in this forum, scattered in many different threads and posts, but I'd like to reconcile it a bit.

My interest in perfumery was reignited when I actually sat down and started making some of Louis Appell's formulas from his book "The Formulation and Preparation of Cosmetics, Fragrances and Flavors", and I'd like to collect a few more books.

I know I've seen names like Poucher, Arctander, etc thrown around a bit....

Thank you!

Other than Appell & Curtis/Williams, the most useful formulas for me to study & experiment with have been the numbered Firmenich formulas on Good Scents & in their marketing PDFs.

There are a lot of formulations for sale but little in books other than classics like Poucher. I recently bought a book from Amazon.com by a University of Wisconsin professor that is called "Perfumes and Perfumery a review". It is a paperback 190 pages and not expensive. Not a formulary book but helped a lot for beginners like me. Hope it helped you.

It looks like the Gattefosse book, "Formulary of Perfumes and Cosmetics" has been republished to be accessible again:

At 20 bucks, I'd certainly recommend to buy that one.
Mine is the original 1959 edition, and it wasn't $20

Where can you find a Gattefosse perfume book for $20? Amazon sells for over $100
