b**chy complainy post

a little moaning. Yes I can save it for my diary but I thought some of you could relate.

#1 do NOT trust the PSH site's shopping cart. Even if you are logged into your account. I have noticed bits and bobs from my cart get removed randomly. I will be compiling a shopping list for several days and then I notice that 3 or 4 ingredients have vanished from the cart. Wtf?? Get it together, PSH. Work on that. It is so incredibly frustrating. I cannot for the life of me remember all the materials I have carefully curated into my list and now I don't even know where to begin. If other websites can have reliable shopping carts, PSH can too.

#2 why is the PA shipping so expensive? PSH sometimes can be higher as well but at least a couple times for big orders it was no greater than $10. Meanwhile the same size order on PA is twice that. And then when you factor in tax, it's basically $30. Again, wtf. I wish they would offer a cheaper shipping alternative... whatever PSH is offering.

Anyhow this is the stuff that is pissing me off lately. ;)

Well, I will pray it doesn’t happen to you! Btw I ordered your Long Lasting Lemon. So excited to smell and experiment with it :)

I like lemon and it’s refreshing qualities but I don’t enjoy the candy drop style of lemon, which makes me feel the opposite (like I have a cold).

PSH site's removes the items from the basket. I always take a Picture for my order's list every time I try to place an order.

That I have experienced several places and it is indeed frustrating when it happens. I've made it a default taking a screenshot every time I update the cart, but I've also experienced it at directpcw, Hekserij, and e-robertet.

I tend to also think it might be an issue with local browsers and cache or something like that.

But I can relate for sure.

I have found the opposite - PSH seems to have the most reliable cart of any site, with PA being similar. As long as you are logged in it remembers. Even better, if you are logged out and build a new cart, it merges them together when you log in (at least I seem to recall that happening in the past).

A lot of website platforms won't save items in cart for xxxx amount of time. I know for example Shopify web platform will only save items in a cart for 1 week max. So I'm sure every websites gonna be different timings based on what web platform they use.

As far as PAs shipping....the item itself will greatly impact shipping costs. I've seen my cart have (4) 30ml bottles and like (2) 15ml bottles only be $5 Usps shipping. But the minute I add a tiny 4ml sample to it....it jumps to $14 UPS. The item itself sometimes is flagged as being necessary to ship via UPS only if it's a hazardous material or has specific shipping circumstances.....and that will jump the cart shipping price up drastically just based on that single material being in your cart.

Regarding the contents of the shopping cart - it depends on where they're stored. Cross-device/cross-app shopping can be problematic. If the info is stored locally in cookies, then that info will only be available on the device on which the cookie is stored. And if you delete your cookies (or your app is set to delete them automatically after a certain period), the cart-contents vanish with them.

Materials like citrus oil are class 3 dangerous goods - flammable liquid. Even in traces these can incurr a DG shipping cost - same as adding alcohol. There is no "free" limit - even 0.1g makes the parcel DG for the purposes of shipping. Note that when used in a blend the item can change class because the flammable component has a much reduced risk of flammability for example or a changed flash point).

Other materials (toxic, hazardous to waterways, etc) can be class 9 - miscellanous - those often don't incurr a fee in small quantities. That is why Perfumers Apprentice will ship some things (marked with a ! - class 9) but not others (marked with a ** - class 3). Courier companies like DHL won't even ship a class 3 item or class 9 over a certain quantity unless the sender has an IATA certificate for dangerous goods shipping which requires training to receive.

Some suppliers are lax about those rules, but that is the technical side.

It's worth considering it's not an issue with PSH's website but rather your computer, browser settings, browsing/device behavior etc. many variables, a broken website is one. I've never had an issue.
Shipping is expensive I agree, often companies will add the cost of labor to their shipping costs. As well by having a high base price, they're passively imposing a minimum order quantity to discourage small purchases.

PA shipping is at least 60 usd for me, I've tested with a product without the Dangerous Goods asterisks and it seems to only slowly increase from 59 usd.
