Its so masspsychosis the hate Auphorie gets! I really dont agree or understand
I ,in your words, "hate" the marketing and the poor experience that follows it, not the perfumes. But mega rich wont get it, you can shell out whatever the cost and probably fly out and pay them handsomely to have their full collection recreated as a bespoke move, right?

Acctually i am probably the least rich person in this community trying to survive as a artist coming from working class upbringing.
This is such a lame prosumption of you.

I have no problem questioning marketing or whatever but calling them scammers cause of it is just strange.

Same can be said about your comment Hans. Transforming displeasure to hate and indirectly calling people here psychos is very gentlemanly of you.
Obviously they are not scamers, and i take these comments more towards Ensar if i follow the logic of the posters comments, who was actually defending Auphorie in comparison to Ensar( Ensar clowns & Co.) But maybe i misunderstood something...
This thread exists to express all thoughts and feelings, and if you disagree with a comment, then disagree in peace.
To the point of you trying to survive is exactly the point why we are unhappy about their marketing, because even at 200 for 30ml, and access to their old compositions would be ok, at least with me. Then you and i could buy and split and sample great compositions of theirs and enjoy the artistry, but we cant. That is the point.

Its not what you say, its how...

But instead, tell what you tried out of Auphorie, and what is your ranking best to least

yeah - no misunderstanding - I was saying that in defense of Auphorie’s pricing. Still, of course I’d prefer if they were more modest with their model :(

I can sympathize, many of us here struggle with the prices for these artisanal perfumers.
I think they are being called scammers because of the way they say a fragrance is gone but then bring it back #albeit with a higher price tag. Binturong coming back as oud binturong even though the original had oud in it is an example of this. Without a doubt I see their perfumes as great creations but do feel like they are manipulating people with their FOMO tactics. But we are all able to choose.

I am enjoying some cultivated kinam (from Hainan) on a subitism heater now. It smells very similar to some sinking Nha Trang I have with an additional blue/blackberry type smell (not sure which one yet) with a medicinal/bitter inflection. Interestingly when I was taking the fume inside my clothes today, it reminded me of Encens Oud Huangdi for the 1st time - both give me an impression of a deep red colour with incense and subtle fruity nuances. EOH is obviously less oudy. I have a feeling that it will only get more incensy and balsamic.

EOH does have some wonderful kyara facets.

Please don't get angry with me for what I am about to say and for being pendanic ...

My experience with kinam/kyara (both wild & cultivataed) is quite limited. I would define those smells found in EOH as 'Kyara-like', 'kyara-adjacent', 'kinamic' facets in very low doses instead. I prefer to err on the cautious side. Otherwise hyping ensues, which I absolutely detest.

Yeah, I agree. For me, kyara facets = kyara adjacent.

In my experience with “kyara” oils, woods and incenses, the only perfume which I can say is exactly similar would be Di Ser’s. But for sure - I am not confident defining kyara. I think we all have our personal definitions! 😆

Oud Binturong has arrived. Wow, a real stand-out from the recents. Addictively deep with notes of chocolate, caramel and one of the finest civets I've smelled. There are also nutty elements that pair finely with the oud, which to me seems Cambodian or Lao. They have cleverly included the same nutty notes in their gift lotion, which is also incredible. Of note is the lack of particulates. The brothers must have filtered this one. A real treasure - both the perfume and lotion - which I will only come to enjoy more.

Extremely similar! The top and heart are shared, but the base of this release is less ‘animalic’ and more woody. Truthfully, I don’t find either animalic - that’s something I associate with musk.

As the house has grown, so has the quality, and that’s reflected in this release’s increased complexity, dimensionality and longevity. Which is eternal.

I found Oud Bintorang subtle, a bit sweet in the opening like Auphorie oud usually are, but goes very dry dusty wood bits fast. Its quiter than my usual Auphorie oud, I havnt got my grips around it yet.

Any other thoughts impressions on this one?

I didn't find the opening subtle but I agree with you on the drydown. One thing I did notice is the opening HAS SOMETHING THAT smells similar to Oud De NYonya also I noticed Oud LanlingwaNG INITIALLY HAS ELEMENTS OF sHENNONG IN IT.

@Dr B1414 their next release is their anniversary one. I do not have the details unfortunately, however, previously we have seen spin offs on the Miyako theme: Sumiro no miyako as well as kokeiro and enjiro.
Frankly speaking - i hope it will be something new as Miyako is about as perfect as it can get, thus flankers dont seem to hold up a candle to it, even though they are pretty good in their own right.
id hope, seems that this is my unfulfilled desire, is the mandarin forward, zesty, green oudy composition with an asian flair. That would be awesome

Agreed, Miyako is hard to top. One of the most beautiful perfumes that I've ever smelt.

Sounds like an interesting spin. Have you tried Mandarine-Mandarine from Uncle Serge? It makes me think of that, sans the oud.

What do you make of Oud Binturong? I don't recall you giving a feedback here, I might be wrong. I'm still waiting for my bottle so......

Never found serge to be up to my tastes, so i dont even search for it. Ill keep in mind MM, but i was thinking something towards Chinese exclusive by ensar, but more zingy, a bit more red than green, maybe a touch sechuan peper...smth like that.
Still waiting for my bottle, since they dont ship to Canada, i rely on kind people, and appreciate their help.
Another 1-2 weeks and i will have it.

I got a lot of ZING from CE so anymore would make it overbearing for me.

Hah! Look at that.
New "Prophet" skill unlocked 😄😄😄

I didnt see that it was sold out already, but when i woke up and went to the site to read the "script" it already said that its running low, so they probably produced something like 20 bottles. I dont think their pool of customers is that large, however i know nothing about asian market.

As for the scent itself, to me it looked like a mambo jumbo of spices and oud and osmanthus and miyako and i cant say it attracted me, or captured my attention, although Au brothers are fairly good with spices. I am more so glad that i got Tabac oud and binturong on the way, and theyll keep me happy for a bit here 👍🏽

WTF would you profane a "sinking-grade" oud oil with heavy ingredients like osmanthus, orris, musk, and ambergris? Maybe because most likely it's not a sinking-grade wood-derived oil. Common Auphorie, you can do better than that.
Yeh I think the same would be a complete and utter waste but most will just believe it any way cause the marketing brief told em

So far I’ve been extremely impressed with their oud series, especially the latest installment. I think this anniversary might be one of the best; won’t know until it arrives, but oud, saffron, nutmeg, clove, orris. Shaping out to be fantastic!

The Miyako variations has been some of my favorite Auphorie releases. They are not as one would expect from a flanker a more boring version of the original. They are interesting versions that carry their own uniqueness imo. Wearing Enjiiro today and oh my its beautiful. Sumiiro is also very special to me.
Lets see about this one, seems like my cup of Tea looking at the notes.
