I think indolis has room for improvement. To me it was too raw and green. Some smooth white cream like in Hera could improve it.
RO was pretty light and just a tad too sweet, fairly 1dimensional because top burned off really fast on my skin. More depth less sweetness and extended top would bring about a welcomed change.
See now, I think Indolis does have some smooth white creaminess to it from the white florals. I love the way the jasmine, hojary frankincense, ginger, lime, tangerine, and pineapple play together. There is definitely a “rawness” to Indolis, but I think it also has a creamy smoothness to it at the same time.

to my nose Hera is lovely but not really indolic - rather powdery & pretty

I can see why it is a bridal scent
Indolis was not indolic enough to me on the contrary 😄 now that i think of it, only indolic perfume must be Salome. All other florals are just nice and floral, sometimes narcotic.

Hera is pretty, but chyprish at the same time. I dont see it as a wedding scent though. Based on how it opens on my skin - its nice casual scent for a sunny day, but not a wedding day

Wearing Al Majmua and it is much more sweet than i remember it. Prickly top is gone unfortunately, and its pretty monotonous on me. Nice smell though albeit not backup worthy.

I finally got a bottle of Walimah extrait! WHOOOOOO!!!! So happy to have this beauty in my collection.:D

I've had Walimah attar for several years but have been unsuccessful until now in getting my hands on a bottle of the extrait. I almost had one about a year and a half ago, but the deal fell through and I was sad for a whole month.:cautious:

Now it's in my hands and I am so happy to have it. What an amazing fragrance Walimah is. So rich and filled with florals (love the way champaca is combined with the other notes of this fragrance), resinous notes, oud...just stunning. I noticed while wearing the extract that I'm picking up an almost incense note in the dry down even though it's not listed in the notes for Walimah. I'm in love with this stuff and want to say thank you to the awesome Basenoter I was able to transact with for Walimah! Most excellent!!!👍
Did you score the bundle from the marketplace?

Wearing Koh-i-Noor today. I absolutely adore the top and heart notes, but the base gets too musky to my taste.
Do you guys know of another ALD that keeps that wonderful floral accord all along its progression? Plumeria de Orris is a possibility, and I love that one, but it is not THAT close.

Never heard of Casablanca. What brand?

Tried sarassins i believe, but cant say for sure. If my memory serves me right, its was just a "cold" type of jasmin.

you might be thinking about something else (tuberose criminelle?) - I would definitely try Sarrasins again - IMO it is a masterpiece & one of the best floral compositions I’ve ever tried

it does have a bit of that coldness that some white florals can convey but also a muskiness, strong indolic presence & a truly gothic depth & darkness

Casablanca by St. Claire - it is a white floral centered chypre - quite indolic IMO & also quite amazing - one of the best chypres & floral compositions that I have ever tried

Those are some great recommendations. Casablanca is one of the best fragrances I've had the pleasure to try, and Sarrasins is a contender for best jasmine imo. I do see how it can be described as a cold jasmine though, it's the way lutens treats his floral soliflores.

Decided to break out my small decant of Siberian Musk. Life it too short to have a perfume that you just look at...lol.

Anyway, Siberian Musk is growling today. Last time I wore it, I remember it presenting more of a bright lemon musk note and today it's virtually all musk. Interesting how a fragrance can change and it makes me wonder what the biggest contributing factor is?

  1. Is it the soap I used to shower with this morning?
  2. Is the PH of my skin different today than it was the last time I wore it?
  3. Does the perfume itself have pockets of muskiness and pockets of more of the other ingredients floating about?
  4. Is my nose more sensitive to musk today than it was the last time I wore Siberian Musk?
  5. I did have COVID-19 the end of October and had one night where I felt like my sense of smell was almost muted, but it was fine the next day...or was it? Do I have some differences in my sense of smell now?
Obviously, there could be many contributing factors, but I just thought it was interesting the difference I smelled from the last time I wore OG Siberian Musk.

One thing I really enjoyed was the vegetal green ness of indolis pair with the indole. As an amateur perfumer, it amazes me how he did it.

Same with the metal like note from Siberian musk 2. I thought it was just a really high quality ginger distilled in a copper pot. He claims it’s the musk, but the deer pods I’ve smelled do not smell bloody unless he tinctured the deer nuts from a freshly killed Siberian deer with the blood and piss in it lol.

Seconded. Would love to see an Inverno Russo remake, Flux de Fleur too
I really liked the milky ness of flux de fleur, inverno russo was war and peace cousin. The synthetic civet really dominated it. Not unpleasant, but lacking the civet nuances imo making it one dimensional. Still it was interesting

This was not my experience. I love Inverno Russo and despise War & Peace. I found the former a milky, musky, creamy musk scent with hints of florals and pine & the latter a powdery, leathery heavy woody scent.

Wow i didnt know "gcms" was a thing.

It seemes that adam gcmsing means nothing because the mysore santalwood of this set smells nothing like the Santal Galore one
Gcms was done to check the oils where legit cost like couple hundred to a thousand to do based on what lab ur sending off to.

Nothing to do with the smell what was sold was upsold kanju attar tested to make sure they where what there where nothing top notch

Same for me, the perfect combo of green, floral, and creamy (from the sandalwood and benzoin). Indolis was really special...

Wearing Ambre de coco over a spray of oud al shams. Much better than just AdC.
I wonder how itll change with a 1 or 2 ml shot of pure Shamama attar in the bottle?

Greetings all! Hope you all are well.

Anyway, have you guys encountered any issue with the atomiser of ALD’s 7th collection?

I was about to wear Gul Hina today but there was an issue with the atomiser’s head. It was loose, doesn’t sit deep and putting pressure on the head in the hopes of getting it to sit back in doesn’t work. All i get from the atomiser was just little spritz.

I have emailed them and waiting for their reply. Just wanting to know if any of you have the same experience. :)

Sounds like the stem is maybe a bit too long? Have you looked at it, and compared it to other ALD bottles?

If it really bothers you, I would just cut off a little piece of the stem

Mick, appreciate the reply. I’ve fixed the issue. =)

The problem is the stem came loose together with the spring from the base. Managed to compress the spring just a tad and now it’s all good. The stem fits right back in.
