The thing that excites me the most for musc gardenia berke khan is the addition of the mongolian musk carrier. I know chypre sultan also had this facet...any others?...if anyone tried/has chypre sultan, how different is it to the usual kashmiri/tibetan/tonkin EO musks?

Personally I'm nose blind to Mongolian musk variety, no problem with all other musks but I can't smell any musk in Chypre Sultan. Bought a gram of raw Mongolian musk grain to test the issue and sure enough, can hardly smell it. But from what I've read and heard, the Mongolian variety is supposed to be more chocolatey than others, Siberian is the most animalic, Tonkin is the darkest and has the most depth, while Tibetan and Kashmiri seem to be in between Tonkin and Siberian.

Oh thats a shame...good description about the musks though! Ive smelled the mongolian musk macerate from EO and it is super chocolatey/earthy.
I macerated my own from ninjarobb..20% in a good sandalwood, and it has nothing on Ensars.

It may be the composition as a whole but both 1984 and Chypre Sultan had the Mongolian musk in them and to me they both have an amazing addictive earthiness not present in any other EO composition that I love.

Yea man....it's a bummer. I got mine from ninjarobb as well, no problem with any other variety. The fresh musks available in the market do not have the same depth or complexity of EO's where most of theirs have been aged for decades....like those Tonkin or SQ's Tibetan, etc.

I'm jealous of those of you who have no issue with Mongolian musk for sure.

Great descriptions! I’d add Tibetan musks seem a little “sweet and spicy” to me but otherwise, yup, these are my observations. :)

I think a lot is dependent on the oil used in the maceration. I’ve now macerated grains from the same pod into different sant album oils and the final results varied across the ‘chocolate animalic powdery’ chart.

Musk is generally sold with too much moisture, I let the musk grains I got a couple years ago dry out a bit and age for 6 mo before macerating and that avoided a lot of urinous notes. I also got some grains from another place that was more expensive, they were completely dry and the result was excellent. I also used Rose de Mai for some of my macerations, that worked out really well.

Ensar adds some materials to enhance the musk notes that many confuse with the musk itself. In some perfumes like EO2 Tibet it's more obvious, there's cocoa and spices that augment the Tibetan musk.

As far as I can tell in the olden days, lol, the best musk had the least auxiliary notes, Russian/Siberian musk was actually considered the least desirable.

If anyone can get their hands on RPP's Fried Mongolian Musk oil, I'd highly recommend it. Its probably the best standalone musk maceration I've ever got my nose upon (very few animalic notes if any and Incredibly pristine smelling).
I’ve heard about that one…. But do people actually smell ‘urine’ from a maceration? I’ve seen it mentioned but I’ve never experienced poop or pee from an oil. I have smelled this on the grains but never in the final product unless it’s a paste.

I'm happy to finally get my hands on a bottle of MG, which is in my top 3 Ensars. It doesn't ship in another week though, so does anyone know if they'll consolidate orders to save on shipping costs if I get something else? Might have to take the opportunity to get a 15ml of Suriranka with the discount, and if I can dodge an additional $20 in shipping costs it is even more attractive.

Yea, thats been my experience too except for an aged kashmiri musk maceration which does retain elements of that urinal note. Its also present in some alcohol perfumes that utitlise musk too i.e Russian Musk
what is the name on Etsy or do you have a link ? Thanks

Do you not find some of the stronger Siberian Musks to have that pissy almost metallic quality? I’ve smelled it in a pod in a jar and in one sandalwood maceration(another was quite smooth).

For Siberian Musks, I do in pod form but never encountered it in a sandalwood oil maceration which I find to be buttery warm with slightly fruity nuances (think spiced pear)

Yup, that’s my experience as well. What’s weird is for me, every Mongolian pod has been more ‘uriney’ than every Siberian pod. Maybe all of my Siberians have been older than my Mongolians. I get wafts of urine from the Mongolian grains only.

Looks like EO starting to ship out the latest Musc Gardenia, my 30ml should be here sometime next week.

Anybody else gotten their EO1 Sultani? How is it?

do you have any of the other versions of Musc Gardenia ? Would love to hear your thoughts when it arrives . I'm still on the fence . I missed the original version and always liked the sound of this but am concerned this could be a quite different experience .

I still have the Tahitan Gardenia and enjoy it very much, but sold the White Kinam edition last year. Still haven't gotten my nose on the OG though.

My assumption is that the new MG won’t share those “tropical” vibes as TG based on my conversations with ensars team. His team mentioned to me “spring weather appropriate, and unisex like Iris Ghalia”

Ah okay . has there been noticeable differences ? I am sure the White Kinam would have different facets for sure . Thanks

TG is different enough from White Kinam for sure, they both shared the same gardenia white floral heart, but WK edition has more depth, more powdery and oudier, but the scent bubble sits closer, while TG performs better on me as far as projection and longevity goes, and it's a bit clearer...ie: notes more distinctive, and a bit more uplifting than the WK. Both of them are just as pretty.

The latest one, I suspect it would be slightly oudier and a little bit more masculine than TG.

Does anybody know what is Bishara?

I received a rather hefty bottle of it as my free gift. From sniffing the bottle I didn’t think I’d like it but after applying it, I think I like it more than the items that I actually ordered. Now I’m perplexed. What is it?

Never heard ot it, if they sent it to you as gift, maybe you could ask Adam to see if you could buy more separately?

Thanks! I could pick out the milky cream and the base (sandalwood/oud/labd?) but it’s starts off green and spicy. I didn’t pick up any fruits at all though. I don’t find it sweet, in fact, from sniffing the bottle, I thought it was going to be a dark spicy oudy Attar.

Edit: well let me rephrase that… I don’t find it to be as sweet as it sounds. The description makes it sound syrupy.
