ADP Colonia vs ADP Chinotto di Liguria vs Dior Eua Sauvage EDT?

As I can’t get the lovely ADP Assoluta (without getting ripped off) I’m on the lookout for something to scratch that itch, so how about…

ADP Colonia

Vs

ADP Chinotto di Liguria

Vs

Dior Eau Sauvage EDT

These have all been compared at some point.
So which and why?
Judge on scent, performance and quality.
They’re all of a similar price give or take.
Or…alternatives that are better?
No niche or obscure stuff please, not my bag.
Oh and not Chanel PM EDT, as although the opening is gorgeous, I don’t like the warm spicy fuzzy dry down.

i've never tried the Chinatto version.

I have Colonia and Eau Sauvage. If choosing one, I'd pick Eau Sauvage. It's quite light but it does last a bit on me. Colonia is more fleeting and much more summery/cologny. Eau Sauvage seems more versatile to me. Office scent. Gentleman's scent.

Did you have a change of heart? I seem to recall you lambasting Eau Sauvage as foul.

No, that was ES Cologne, went very bitter on my skin.

I own and love both ADP Colonia and Eau Sauvage edt. Colonia lasts significantly longer on my skin--up to 12 hours of noticeable wafts with 3 sprays. While also IMO a perfect summer fragrance--and very safe, as is Colonia--Eau Sauvage wears closer on me with about half the longevity of Colonia. I find both very uplifting, and in my top 10 all-time favorites.

BTW, I have owned vintage Eau Sauvage as well, and while it was richer than the original (probably oakmoss), they are otherwise identical IMO. I also found the vintage did not perform better in terms of longevity. One more note--I own both Eau Sauvage edt and the after shave lotion--current or recent formulations. Purchased both bottles directly from Dior. I actually find the after shave projects and lasts longer than the edt.

I see them as different takes on citrus, respectively floral-retro, fruity-bitterish, fruit-fresh. All three good, it depends a bit on what one wants. I'd say Eau Sauvage is the more classic citrus, AdP more dandified-retro, chinotto more unusual-so perhaps, having only one, Eau Sauvage.

Not alternatives-but I've been using a lot of cheap eau de cologne citruses for places like the gym or the like. Like Duru Kolonya-a Turkish citrus water. It lasts 15 minutes, but I paid $5 for 200ml, so perfect for a quick refreshing.

While tempted to recommend both Eau Sauvage EDT and ADP Colonia almost equally much, in terms of both performance as well as the actual scent of each, also equally likely to further second Cerruti 1881.
Even more so given its tremendous value for money compared to the aforementioned first two with a similar note structure highlighted by a solid performance).

I'm enjoying sampling Goutal's Eau d'Hadrien ATM, have you tried that one @Sloth? Pricey, but a 50ml is around the same price as a 100ml of ES and it's pure class to my nose, but I haven't gauged performance yet! Another thought is Cappuci PH, but I don't think you liked Armani Eau PH and they're quite similar.

Nope, not showing up on my eBay UK search?
Yeah that's because it's sold, Sloth. Just log in to ebay from time to time and you'll find them coming up at good prices. Add them to your watch list and bid on them as/when the price suits you. The ones listed at £200+ are the ones that don't sell, hence they're always visibly for sale.

Yeah, I do have a search saved but so far nothing other than the over priced stuff has come up.
As you say, it’s worth keeping my ear to the ground though (y)

Are you referring to the original Cerruti 1881--Men, or one of the flankers like Intense, Edition Blanche, etc.? Thank you! :)

Would rate these in the order you listed them. Colonia is much closer to Assoluta out of the three.

Chinotto features a darker citrus note and more herbal notes than Colonia. The longevity is good but I don't get as many of those reoccurring whiffs of glory as with Colonia, which stays great all through drydown. This is like the eua du sud to the mentioned eau de hadrian. If you like less "bright" citrus perhaps would like it more.

One advantage as this seems to have flooded the market so you can likely find it at a very reasonable price/high discount. But wouldn't buy it until after owning regular Colonia.
