A playful spring designer?

Hello all,

have taken some distance with the fragrances world the last few months. But my nose is still aching for some nice fragrances.
Do you have any recommendation for a spring fragrance that evokes the blossoming of tress and the slow return of sun without going full summer mode (in the likes of Dior homme cologne).

Ideally, it can have some sweetness but toned down.
Also, I try to further explore the designer world, but feel free to throw in some niche :)

Take care and have a great week-end

Hmm,

If you can find it Issey Miyake Summer 2009. It's a great one. Tom Ford - Neroli Portofino (or Neroli Portofino Forte if you can find it) is another one, but it's more pricey and it's based off the classic citrus-floral 4711 eau de cologne, but longer lasting. And one that isn't a Designer fragrance, but I think fits what you're asking for is Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Garden of Bali which is only seasonally available and you'll be able to buy it within the next few months on their website. I adore it. Citrus, White Florals, Cedarwood+Bamboo. Smells like a South-East Asian Colonia/4711 type scent. The bamboo does a number on it that really works incredibly well.

You could try Prada Luna Rossa Carbon. Unfortunately as I understand, Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Cool is discontinued but you should try it if you can find it. Guerlain Homme EdP is not exactly "playful" but very much worth of at least trying.

Many times fragrances with neroli, or other white floral, notes work well for me in the spring. Penhaligons Castile was the first fragrance that came to mind. Of course you can do less expensive things for neroli, like Banana Republic's Neroli Woods which is really great. For a brighter neroli, try Ferrari's Bright Neroli. And for a neroli that's not so in-your-face, try AdP's Essenza. For classic... 4711.

Bonus round... if you're looking for a touch of citrus and white floral with musk that wears perfectly in spring and summer, on a budget, try Avon's I'mperfect. As a side note, Avon adds a touch of real oakmoss in the base as a fixative which also gives it a bit of a backbone and some great longevity. One of a handful of Avon's that I fully endorse.

In addition to so many great recommendations already, also taking the liberty to recommend especially:

Hugh Parsons Blue, Caron Yatagan and/or Pour un Homme Sport from the Same House, Voyage d'Hermes Parfum, Knize Forest, Penhaligon's Endymion EDC, along with most of the Blue Mediterraneo line from ADP, also (Eau de) l'Occitan from l'Occitane.

With the minor disclaimer that even the niche rated ones did recommend like the ones from Hugh Parsons, Knize, Caron, Penhaligon's, ADP are still priced towards the upper end of designers/lower end of either niche or designer exclusive options.
Also happening to provide at the same time way beyond designer and occasionally even on par with artisan, designer exclusive, niche tier levels of quality, performance with a sturdy track record of reliable consistency.

Some great suggestions:

I need to revisit Voyage by Hermes and the Infusion line by Prada (remembering liking them quite a bit)
Dior Homme Original has always been on my list, but it feels more seductive and classy than playful
Chanel AHSEB was always a good choice, a safe bet for me

Many of your suggestion look great, but are not easy to get my hands on to sample here in EU (Belgium).
Interestingly, I noticed that very few (if any?) have a fruity component despite citruses (and fig for the DS Durga suggestion)

Rochas Globe is one of Ellena's best to me and performs best in the Spring. Discontinued but can still be found for a reasonable price on eBay occasionally and there are plenty of 15ml minis out there if one wants to pay less and just try it out for a while before going for a full bottle. Not exactly playful but it has a certain brightness and positivity about it to my nose!

The Hermes Jardin line is very much sparkling spring gardens in a bottle.
Un Jardin Sur La Nil, Sur la Toit, Sur La Lagune, En Mediterranee, Le Jardin De Monsieur, etc

Unfortunately there’s not too many designer fragrances that are making green scents evoking things like blossoming flowers and the shifting of the sun. At least not men’s designers.
You’ll have far better luck looking in vintage, niche, and women’s.

Try:
Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria line
Chanel’s Les Eaux de Chanel line
Frederic Malle Synthetic Jungle
Creed Vetiver Geranium
Chanel n°19 edc
Bulgari au the verte
Annick Goutal

Issey Kevin Lucbert aka Summer 2022 is a nice green scent. It’s like if the OG and Bleue were combined and taken down a notch to summer strength. (Basil, cypress, pine, etc)

Also, check out Fendi Theorema Uomo. It’s still easily found on eBay. Jacques Cavellier early-2000s vibes. Very green and smooth.

New blossoming trees and the slow return of sun,
What about a Farenheit summer / cologne flanker. The reworked honeysuckle note could work well.
It's great how the changing of the seasons makes us crave new fragrance alternatives.

Floris Bergomote Positano has a coming of summer / turning of the seasons vibe.

Finally Dunhill Icon is quite a playful, fruity, neroli. But maybe rather suited to when summer is more established

Here is my list for spring.

1) Mercedes Benz Club Black
2) Valentino Uomo Intense
3) Stronger with you intensely
4) Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum

Those for me are the sexiest and best for spring.
