1934 Old School. CARON: Pour Un Homme de CARON

Hi all,

I just wanted to say, I received a bottle (blind buy) Caron: Pour Un Homme de CARON yesterday. Today (Sunday 3/26/2023) I had my first ever wearing of Pour Un Homme (I was VERY late to the Party on this Fragrance) and I just wanted to say, I'm absolutely LOVING this Fragrance! Of course this Fragrance isn't one of my usual "Animalic/off beat" Fragrances however (of late) I find myself really enjoying many of these "less loud" beautifully crafted Fragrances. My only gripe is that (as of this writing) it's difficult to find Caron: Pour Un Homme de CARON in the larger 4.2 oz. bottle at a reasonable price. I've only a 2.5 oz. bottle however, me thinks I'll purchase a larger bottle of this Caron (when available) and when the price come back down to Earth.

This one of the iconic masculine classics that can be still had (even as a vintage) for often affordable pricing, thus only further heightening its already outstanding value.

Just wait until you get a little further down the rabbit hole and try the Les Plus Belles Lavandes. Wowzers! But…. I don’t know the current asking price of that one. Don’t go crazy over that version. Instead, try one of the very few layerings I actually do with perfume: Pour un Homme, then once dry layer Agua Lavanda on top. That’s a heavenly ride that’s even better because the Aqua Lavanda is cheap!

Unfortunately Caron doesn't distribute much anymore in the US. It can be found pretty easily in France. I see from their website that it has reached $100 in Europe too-it used to be less.

I wonder if Parfums de France in Tyson's corner still has a cheaper bottle...

Hi cacio. Yes indeed, the price of this Caron has gone CRAZY! I suspect not too long ago, a LARGE 4.2OZ. bottle cost under forty dollars. Ugggh.

Great fragrance, especially in spring.
It’s a bummer to hear that prices have gone up. I think I paid $20 for my large bottle back when I got it.

I have a vintage bottle as well, and to my nose they smell almost identical.

(Not the case with other Caron’s. Third Man for example, the vintage is quite different).

I must have got really lucky when I bought my bottle. I know the price of everything has rocketed recently, and it is a long time since I bought my bottle (easily over 10 years ago), but I think I paid £28 for 200ml

I always have a bottle or two of this--vintage and modern. I especially like the aftershave. That said, this is a bit like Habit Rouge for me--sometimes I LOVE it and feel that it is timeless and sometimes it feels hopelessly dated. Not that I particularly mind smelling dated, but it is a palpable thing. Both make me want to smoke a Gauloise which is crazy as I am a nonsmoker..... H R L'Eau and Sport are very good modernizations of the original scents.
