Cedre Atlas by Atelier Cologne

I seem to have a different sense of Cedre Atlas than many others. Of the 6 or 7 samples I have tried from Atelier, I find this one quite bold and definitely more suited to a man. You can really note the Cedar and I can see how this is going to be a dividing line among those who love it and those who don't. I love the onset of the Lemon & Bergamot. I don't find the apricot unappealing as I find it quite soft and in the deep background. After the dry-down and a few hours later, the Cedar is upfront and stays there which is really where this fragrance is taking you; into the deep Vermont woods. After I tried Atelier's samples ( of this fragrance, I bought two) I kept coming back to it liking it more, enough so that I purchased a 100ml bottle. I've also gotten several very positive comments and by this, I can only surmise that it wears well on me. I think it's worth a couple of wears before you abandon this unusual scent.

Mistral Patchouli by Atelier Cologne

I love Patchouli, ok, let me restate that, I really like Patchouli. I have almost never enjoyed the scent unless it was on a free-spirited young lady exuding vitality and reckless abandon. A thin tee shirt and a waterfall almost completes the picture. This however, is not in your face Patchouli, and as a "man's man" I was delighted to find something with Patchouli as a note that I could also enjoy. The show opening with Pomelo, Black pepper, Star anise is like the overture to Phantom of the Opera (big, bright and bold), and the fall off, leading to the rest of this musical fragrance is Indonesian patchouli, Benzoin, Vetiver which to me is soft and steady without the Woodstock Hippy! I have also found that Mistral Patchouli does not last as long as I would like. Maybe that's why I seem to love this fragrance, simply because it becomes subtle and not in your face. Like others who have expressed a Marine connotation, I'd have to agree! Jerome Epinette seems to have nailed this one!

Ungaro pour L'Homme I by Ungaro

How and why this fragrance was discontinued is criminal! If you walk into a party wearing this and you leave empty handed, chances are you died and no one told you. This fragrance is an experience for you and those around you. Much like the related brothers in the series, this is the most primal and darkest. It is woody, yet bright and alive. It is bold, yet deceptive and with a power of intrigue and espionage. I has secrets and codes that you will never break, and it will bring foreign women to your doorstep who will speak Russian and carry sharp knives in their thigh high leather boots. The mystery of the Orient and the longevity will stay with you for the day, and the scent will linger on your shirt collar for days. The complexity is truly unmatched; going on initially with great intensity, you should use less than you think. The dry down takes quite some time and then passes through the subtle patchouli phase leaving a base of complexity that was equal to first spray. I can honestly say that this fragrance has to be simply wonderful on just about any man. If you can still find it, it's worth every penny, but reserve it for special days and special people. I could only hope for a re-release,,, PLEASE!

Ungaro pour L'Homme III by Ungaro

This is a truly wonderful fragrance and follows a lesser Ungaro II which i believe does not stand up to "One or Three". The cast of characters are aromatic flowers, subtle rose with a wave of lavender at the open,,, mixed with vodka; where I agree with our other reviewers brings us to that dark and late night alley way of intrigue. The drydown is really 'classy' and deeply complex with a touch of wood and asian / middle eastern spices.
This is quite bold and a little goes a long way especially for the office. This is a fragrance for those who want to be noticed and want to say 'I've arrived', but are way too cool to even have to "go there". I find this to great for casual office, and equally complex for an evening with the ladies or even out to a ball game. The longevity settles into a nice spicy-woody toasty glow. Clearly, this is a "Can't go wrong" fragrance that is timeless.
