maccus's Review of Antaeus by Chanel

Having worn this fragrance many years ago, I tried it again recently and was taken aback. I loved the original but this somewhat tepid compromise is disappointing because it is not what it was. There was no need to meddle with it, to lessen the sublime balance between the raw nuances and the elegant constructions that made it so accomplished a fragrance. I loathe change unless it is for the better - this was not.
