Luxury fragrance house Lalique have announced the launch of “three modern olfactory stories” with their latest offerings Blue Rise, Velvet Plum and Infinite Shine. The collection, entitled Les Compositions Parfumées, is quoted as being “inspired by the alchemy of perfumery, jewellery and crystal-making. Fresh. Luxuriant. Tropical.”

Blue Rise, is a tropical scent featuring jasmine sambac absolute and accented by powdery iris undertones. The molecules Helional, and Undecavertol feature at the heart of the fragrance and musky cashmere wood sits at the base. Perfumer Vincent Ricord says of his creation ““The one and only image I had in mind when I imagined Blue Rise was an immensely beautiful lagoon. A tropical emerald. Fresh, transparent, infused with naturality, this is a scent for a spontaneous, alluring woman with a touch of sophistication.”
Velvet Plum is also based around synthetic molecules: Cashmeran and Suederal. Wrapped around that are sweet heliotrope, more iris and patchouli, finishing with tuberose and osmanthus. The fragrance is the brainchild of Valérie Garnuch-Mentzel who tells us “I was inspired by the beauty and velvety touch of suede. I instantly wanted to reveal its beauty through the contrast of Suederal, a silky soft molecule, and dark, mysterious patchouli. A bohemian duo that feels raw yet sensuous, mellowed by a feminine accord of fruity, floral and powdery notes. Simply sublime.”
Completing the trio is Infinite Shine, an oriental with notes of rose, sandalwood and saffron. The molecule here is Safranal which produces a warm, leather-tinged scent. Sandalwood also features. Corinne Cachen says of this, her offering to the range, “In the Middle-East, I had the privilege of experiencing an unforgettable ritual. The moment when men and women scent their garments in the smoke of smouldering oud, the folds of gold-embroidered fabric swirling and fluttering, filling the whole room with fragrance. This was my inspiration to create this rich duo of sensuous rose and wild saffron.”
As can be expected from the Iconic crystal house, the scent is presented in an Art Deco flacon, finished with a white wooden cap embellished with Lalique’s “Hirondelles” (“Swallow”) logo in gold. Using the blue, plum and gold palette of the three new scents, they are inspired by René Lalique’s 1931 “Duncan” collection.
Blue Rise, Velvet Plum and Infinite Shine are all available from Lalique stores and selected retailers now priced at £190 for 100ml EDP.
