New fragrance company Aqualis have released their first range of four scents, entitled Evolution. Steyn Grobler and Leonardo DellAgi have brought together their experience of perfume and product design to create the new brand which focuses on an experiential relationship between the consumer and the perfume.

Origin is the first of the four in this initial range and features Egyptian jasmine absolute, Turkish rose absolute, French vanilla bourbon, French patchouli and Indian papyrus oil. The creators describe the fragrance as “an ode to the earliest aspects of universe and the earliest pioneers of fragrance”.
Next in the range, Utopia is declared “a dedication to the zenith of our human desires, to live in unity, and in a place of absolute comfort.” It features orange blossom, French osmanthus absolute, peach and apricot accords, suede and French vanilla bourbon.
Freedom follows and “has it’s own meaning to each person, and this fragrance intends to release us into our own adaptation.” Taking inspiration from South Africa, Freedom is nonetheless as global in its ingredients as the other scents. Egyptian bergamot, Oak Moss, Haitian vetiver salt water and mint all feature in this fragrance.
The brand concludes with Coda, which “completes Evolution, and the first chapter of the Aqualis legacy.” Cinnamon bark oil and pressed Egyptian bergamot are followed by Turkish rose absolute and Egyptian jasmine absolute, finishing with a base of Indonesian benzoin resinoid and French labdanum absolute.
