Following the launch of its Marlene Dietrich fragrance collection, Parfums Gres is to launch a collection of fragrances that pay homage to Swedish force of nature, Greta Garbo.The driving force behind many thirties fashions and an influential and elusive actress, Garbo was nicknamed The Goddess and the Swedish Sphinx – all of which has informed the choice of moniker for the fragrances in this collection. The trio are named Mythos, Sphinx and Goddess.The fragrances were created by two relatively young perfumers – both born in 1977. Marie Salamagne of Firmenich composed Sphinx and Goddess whilst Amandine Marie of Robertet created Mythos. Mythos – Hommage à Greta Garbo contains a fruity opening of apples, oranges, black currants and pineapple. Rose, freesia and peony lend a floral heart, whilst the whole dries down into a base of musk, sandalwood and iris.Sphinx – Hommage à Greta Garbo also opens with fruity notes in the form of lychee, yuzu and peach. Florals feature once again, with white peony, rose and lotus blossoms at the heart. Cedar, musk and patchouli finish the fragrance.Goddess – Hommage à Greta Garbo has a stronger opening featuring plum, mandarin and cardomom. Cinnamon, heliotrope and jasmine sit at the heart, whilst the base consists of sandalwood, moss, vanilla and amergris.The packaging for the Hommage à Greta Garbo collection echoes that of the Marlene Dietrich collection with its heavy glass bottles and white, silver embossed boxes. Each fragrance however, has a signature colour – Mythos is lilac, Sphinx is green and Goddess is yellow. 60ml bottles of each fragrance will be available in eau de toilette form from spring 2009, retailing at 59 Euros.
