For those of you who use Twitter, you may be interested in a new social network for perfume fans called Prf.me. The site runs on Mastodon, which is a decentralised open-source social network.
Mastodon is decentralised, which means that nobody owns it, a bit like the way email works. Each Mastodon server is a completely independent entity, able to interoperate with others to form one global social network. Regardless of which server you are on, you can follow people on any server. So if you join the prf.me server you can follow people regardless of which Mastodon server they are on. (You can find out more about Mastodon here)
Like all Mastodon servers, Prf.me is free to join and contains no ads.

Big Disclosure
I set up Prf.me just see how Mastodon works. It reminds me of the early days of Twitter, and I’ve really enjoyed using it so far. If you’ve been thinking of giving Mastodon a try then why not join via prf.me and hang out with some of your perfume buddies!
Even though I set it up, it’s unrelated to Basenotes, in that it is its own separate thing. If you join it you’re not going to be bombarded with Basenotes stuff (unless you follow BN), and likewise, I’m not going to keep going on about it here.
If you’re already on Mastodon, and want to follow Basenotes you can do so here. If you want to move your current Mastodon account to prf.me, you can find out how to do that here.
