Crush Balls – new limited edition tennis-themed scent from D.S. & Durga

D.S. & Durga have introduced their latest scent in their limited editon Studio Juice collection – Crush Balls – inspired by the sport of tennis.

Just in time for the upcoming U.S. Open, Crush Balls, contains notes of green grass, rosemarin, “yellow fuzz”, hedge flowers, white cotton, “sporty accord” and “hard court”

David Seth Moltz, co-founder of the brand says:

I love tennis. So do you. There’s nothing like getting on the court to crush balls. Tennis is a whole culture that moves globally. I could see how one could get lost in it. Letting the schedule of tennis rule their life. I admire the dedication. All for hitting the perfect ball over the net with a racquet.

The fragrance is available now from the D.S. & Durga website

I wonder what "yellow fuzz" is? A distinct plant? By the way "hedge flowers" come from which flowering hedge? Lots of mysteries in the fragrance notes although interesting.

I'm interested in comparing this to Imaginary Authors The Soft Lawn. They nailed that smell from a freshly opened tube of tennis balls in that fragrance.

I found The Soft Lawn very disappointing. This is way better, in my opinion.

As someone who loved the sport (not so much the snobism prevalent at the clubs) in his childhood and youth (very late 80s and 90s) as well as the sporty fragrances from that era (think Boss Sport, Roland Garros EdT, Sergio Tacchini EdT, Lacoste Sport), I'm really curious about this fragrance and would like to hear more impressions. Does it have any of that classic sporty vibe?

I'm going to go out on limb here and presume the 'yellow fuzz' is whatever the yellow fuzz is on the tennis balls, or perhaps whatever yellow fuzz that might rub off under the soles of the person(s?) crushing balls. A marketing fantasy like 'whipped cream', or when they put pink in front of notes in women's fragrances (pink oakmoss...)

I know fragrance marketing is prone to exaggeration and bombastic storytelling in general, but this brand's efforts in particular comes off as contrived and pretentious a lot of the time, in a hello fellow kids kind of way.
