Molinard Sketch (1942)Sketch is a most complex eau de cologne from Molinard. It is not the typical citrus edc of the Farina/4711 variety.
There are all the citrus top notes, yes, and all nicely blended with no particular standout, just clean and fresh, with bergamot, lemon, lime, grapefruit, citron and neroli.
The heart contains some interesting dry notes, the geranium and lavender, which caress the basic floral duo of rose and jasmine, thus moving from citrus to dry florals.
The base is round and sensual with vanilla and sandalwood mixing with pungent clary sage and vetiver, as well as the ubiquitous touch of oak moss.
There is a subtle greenness to it all (bergamot lime, geranium, vetiver, clary sage notes) that gives it a very summery vibe.
Crisp, fresh, light, and quite dry, this is a handsome summer splash for gentlemen. Though no longer in production, it is readily available on line from purveyors of vintage scent.
