Latest Reviews of Namiko / Toute La Provence

Molinard Jeune was a fragrance line designed for young women of the flapper era. Namiko was created in 1921, not 1930 as this Basenotes page indicates. It was originally released as Toute Le Province, then brought into the Jeune line under its new name.
The theme is that of cherry blossom time in Japan with its almond/cherry scent, which would have put it in the fruity floral category which did not I believe exist at the time. The name Namiko means Child of the Waves as well as Child of the Breezes in Japanese.
Top notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Neroli, Almond Blossom, Orange Blossom
Middle notes: Honeysuckle, Lilac, Muguet, Mimosa, Rose
Bae notes: Sandalwood, Musk, Civet, Vanilla
Despite the many notes, not much rises to the nose before it disappears. A lovely light mix of orange and almond dissipates quickly and the floral heart does not linger long enough to attach itself to the base. The honeysuckle's sweetness and the bite of the lilac are evident, but the mix of oils here seems to be too thin to make more than a fleeting impression.
