The ‘Obscur’ variant of Bekkali’s Mudéjar comes in a midnight blue bottle and seems to promise a ‘darker’ experience to the spa-freshness of the original. But alas, no, this is bright and bouncy too, with a curious fruity take on incense smothered in the kind of hazy, humid perfumed freshness that typifies detergents and fabric softeners. All a bit full-on and fake, leaving me dissatisfied somewhere in the no-person’s land between an industrial scale laundry operation and a sauna.
