Cool, green, and woody with powdery florals and soft spices. I find this is mostly the case with the "classic" fragrances and especially with chypres and oriental-ish florals. The opening to be almost intoxicating/overpowering, but the dry down is cool, soapy and collected with a touch of powder. This is one you have to let envolve on you, skin/chemistry, before you make final judgment

Sharp, crisp aldehydic opening with green galbanum predominanting, probably some bergamot, grapefruit and ghosted limette. Jil Sander's III heart is of jasmine, geranium, and possibly some spicy tea-rose, but, as was typical of midcentury complex numbers, the floralcy is somewhat "abstract" really smelling fresh, true flower petals, but more soapy/powdery. The base is wonderful mix of moss, vanilla and sandalwood. If i were a woman, i'd make it one of my signatures.

A big green classic chypre. It's got everything you'd expect from the genre: heavy galbanum and geranium, that sour green smell you get when a grassy patchouli meets bergamot, a mossy chypre base (sweet with actual 80's oakmoss), and soapy aldehydes on top.

This is definitely on the butch end of the women's perfume spectrum - it's not lost on me that a slug of lavender would easily turn this into a macho powerhouse scent. I like these ballsy green chypres better than powerhouses, honestly. Somehow, without the lavender and macho swagger to hide behind, perfumers seem to have put more effort into their similar-but-feminine offerings.

In terms of green chypre touchstones, this is less pretty and much more sour than Chanel No 19, but not as sour and offputting as Sagamore. It's wearable and enjoyable, but I feel like collectable eBay prices for this probably aren't warranted unless you're a diehard oakmoss junkie.

Barbara Herman noted that this was an "experimental" scent, that "doesn't all come together, although parts are gorgeous."

It starts off with a tart, medicinal blast (coriander, rosewood, bay). Herman goes on to describe it as green with orris, mossy, with a creamy leathery sandalwood dry down.

On me it is rather non-distinct, except for the pungent and unpleasant dry down, reeking more of cedar than sandalwood to my nose. The carnation is prominent through out, giving it a spiciness that is not unpleasant, but it remains on that one note level.

It smells chemical, artificial, and no better or worse than other weak men's scents out there, even though this was intended for women.

Lots of ingredients:

Top notes: Bergamot, Coriander, Rosewood, Bay
Heart notes: Rose, Ylang, Carnation, Jasmine, Muguet, Geranium, Orris, Tuberose
Base notes: Patchouli, Castoreum, Sandalwood, Olibanum, Benzoin, Amber, Moss, Vanilla

Too bad they don't add up to anything above the mediocre level.

Is a very femenine perfume. Long lasting and very atracted to others. Is dificult to find in just any perfumery.
