Jasmine Neroli

Jasmine lovers proceed with caution. If you have high hopes for a wearable version of a jasmine, (I’m ever on the look out for an embodiment of my favorite sambac varietal) this may not be it. There is something appealing here that I’m not sophisticated enough to identify so I keep it around to retest from time to time.

The neroli rolls over the jasmine in a bossy bullying sort of way. Jasmine wants to poke through at the top but the fight between the two is headache producing right at five minutes west time on my chemistry I probably should have thought about returning my rollerball purchase but I couldn’t bring myself to give up on this scent. The dry down to the powdery scent happens really fast though and at that point it’s unwearable. I don’t think it’s the powdery that brings on the headache.

I’ve tried applying the roller ball lightly, at the wrist only and I may still try just at the back of my knees because there is something alluring in here that I just can’t get to with the headache. I can’t really recommend but I do want to understand better what in this is appealing and why it flops for me.

Opens with a thin, candied neroli. The jasmine peaks out into the forefront for a hot second but recedes quickly. No structure, like sticking one's nose in a laundry dryer sheet. Unpleasantly dense on the drydown.

Jasmine Neroli is not remotely sensual. You could dab this on a baby. But please don't dab this on anyone.
