This is really an interesting smell, and I'm having a difficult time coming up with a description of it. The combination of cedar and oud is a good place to start, though this is no CDG clone. Instead, it smells more like peppery lumber with hints of rubber than what I'd expect. It's the lotus that really amplifies the weirdness. On its own, lotus is a weird note, vaguely flowery, in a wet rose sort of way, it's mostly an aquatic smell, salty and beachy and almost fishy, like the smell of hot seashells. When combined with the rubbery facets of the oud, it's really just odd, like one of those fish tank stores used a really strong natural floor cleaner scented with woody essential oils and sweet incense.
All in all, I find Itoh interesting, but not that enjoyable. I'll take complicated indie weirdness over safe corporate smell-alike perfumes any day, but this just doesn't appeal to my personal tastes, so I'm going to have to go with a neutral vote.
