A lot of those notes considered as manly. Good, but nothing too special.

First notes are floral and quickly develop a well balanced sweetness.

The opening is very unisex.

Later it transitions into a more masculine, woody, scent.

Overall this is a casual and pleasant perfume. It is lacking in character but that allows it to be very safe and office friendly (I couldn't imagine someone being offended by the smell).

Longevity is suprisingly good, though this quickly becomes a skin scent.

I love this stuff. It's a solid fragrance to wear to work and to smell good while remaining somewhat discreet and not attracting unwanted attention. The overall smell is something like the pink pepper accord you get in Spicebomb, but it's crisper, less-sweet, and a bit more brisk and airy as well. Thus it wears less heavily and has a very fresh quality about it that balances the sweetness. Before I tried this, I thought it was going to be a lot more conservative and "boring" in its impression, but it's really not that at all. Although it's somewhat safe, overall it's quite uplifting and feels rather modern. While the fresh-spicy-sweet pink pepper accord generally drives the fragrance, it's supported well by a woody vetiver accord in the base that emerges later in its development, and a kind of gray, smoky incense that that keep the pink pepper and mandarin orange in check, lending a needed and slightly bitter more masculine element to the mix. On the whole, it's a well-polished and blended fragrance with very smooth transitions and harmony and balance between the notes. You'll feel crisp and fresh wearing this and will be able to enjoy it throughout the day even if you're not intruding the space of those around. Longevity is solid and projection is on the better side of average. Quietly becoming a favorite of mine, I'd give Gentlemen Only a final rating of 8.5/10, and I'm going to recommend it as a blind buy for those in the market for a fresh, safe, and modern casual-office fragrance that gets the job done.

A nice green mandarin smell that borders on lychee in the beginning, and then it moves into the characteristic green orange smell afterwards. The patchouli and vetiver give it a cooler icy effect. It's very professional and casual at the same time. It's very easy to wear and no notes overstay their welcome. The basenotes warm things up a little at the end, but neither section of notes is overbearing. Great scent!

I really enjoy the bright citrus, fresh, sweet, green opening in Gentlemen Only. Very enjoyable and ultra-pleasant.

I see this is as one of those scents that's perfect for daytime semi-formal or business. Basically, perfect for work in offices.

I get very good projection throughout the day when wearing.

Not bad at all. It's a very pleasant and inoffensive formal-wear scent to my nose. Has a very green/sweet/woody vibe to it. As the name suggests, it's a very gentlemanly fragrance that I think is best suited for the more mature crowd (maybe 40+).

There is a note in there, however, that I don't really care too much for- it's either the patchouli or the frankincense, or maybe the combination of both that's kind of turning me off it. Other than that, very nice fragrance- I'm really enjoying my little sample of it, but definitely not planning on buying the bottle.

Semi-sweet, woody, a bit green. Can pass as a unisex scent. Very pleasant. Only wish it lasted longer on my skin.

Gorgeous juice. Lasts ages on me and gives of a lovely silage. Floral, musky and patchouli scent.

This basic formula has been done to the point of overkill by many other houses, but somehow Givenchy has managed to make it more wearable. It's fresh without being cloying and somehow stays sharply upscale in quality. I don't see the particular need for many aromatic aquatics in my wardrobe, but I certainly would grab for the Givenchy Gentleman Only over the others in this market saturated family.

This is okay. I like it better than many designer frags I've tried. I picked up a slight cinnamon edge that I liked. It's just a bit sweeter than I was hoping. I'm going to try it again before I make a decision on whether or not it's bottle worthy or not.

Nice scent, however it does not last on my skin. I can not recommend this due to the poor performance. Do not let the nice lady at the counter convince you to buy this one. Pass.

Have tried lots, would buy it, though it seems to smell different every time I smell it(reformulated?)Also, doesn't have very good longevity(this determined by bathing in it a the dept. store(s).

This is just a hidden gem in MY OPINION. It has a very soothing scent with a mildly sexy twist to it. I can't get enough of this stuff in the summer, it's manly, young, gentlemanly and well blended. For a young man this is a winner!

This doesent just smell manly, this smells gentlemanly. Gentlemen Only is more of a daytime fragrance. The wood and spice give it a strong masculine edge. Woody, smokey, spicy, chic, versatile, impressive and absolutely french style.

I like the fresh and spicy opening with the pink pepper and mandarine with a touch of nutmeg. Soon the vetiver comes to the surface releasing it's aromatic, smokey aspects. As it dries down I would say there has to be incense, musk in the basenotes, because it gets kinda warm and earthy on my skin.

It's not overpowering and if you tend to get headaches from strong colognes this is sure to please. Perfect for a cloudy rainy day when walking together he open his umbrella for you when it started to rain as makes other women jealous of you because he is a real gentleman!

This scent is perplexing. I like it overall. The dry down is very different from the opening which is bright. On my partner, it smells sophisticated, smoky, and complex. On my own skin, it smells like dried Chap Stick after an hour or so. The scent is a bit faint on me as most Givenchys have always been, except for PI and Xeryus Rouge. But I've always enjoyed their initial effect. To get a better sense of this fragrance, I recently applied a lot on several points, including my clothes. It was then that I noticed the Chap Stick smell after an hour. I asked my partner and he found it bewildering and agreed. The next day, we tried it on him again and there was no Chap Stick scent. I suppose the scent illustrates for us how different a scent's effect can be after commingling with one's own chemistry.

Givenchy always leaves me confused between the classic Gentleman and their Gentleman Only lines. While I don't know what the vintage Gentleman was like, the Gentleman Only that I sampled wasn't anything that I can imagine ever being popular or related to the classic of the 70's. The problem for me in this one is the spice dominated all the way and I only got a hint of citrus and never any soft wood.

Additionally, the longevity of the sample I had was 3hrs max. If you like spicy citrus or spicy woods, you may like Gentleman Only. I'll pass on it.

Not so bad, not so great, could've been better...

It's an interesting one, I get vetiver and incense and a little pink pepper. The opening is nice, but the dry down is very generic. It's okay, but it really could have been better. I would have liked to have seen more from Givenchy, especially after the classic "gentleman" of the past. This one shouldn't have had the same name, they should have called it something else I think. Nice, but not really worth it for me.

If not entirely original, GENTLEMEN ONLY by GIVENCHY is a purer concoction of notes in harmony than others of a similar profile. Opens with a wonderful clear sweet orange note that has the intensity and slightly bitter quality of pure orange oil. This segues into a cedar oil accord that tones down the sweetness and brings a sophistication to the fragrance. The oily intensity subsides as a dry, smoky patchouli and frankinsense overtakes everything else and creates a dusty heart with that initial orange oil running through it. The heart of the fragrance makes me think of orange furniture oil being used in an old, dusty cedar closet. I like this effect, but it is a commitment to wear. No subtlety, those notes punch out through your personal scent cloud to everyone within 30 feet of you! I don't really get much pepper or spices and I wouldn't say this is a green or fresh fragrance either. Orange oil, cedar and dusty incense are the notes and GENTLEMEN ONLY lasts approximately 5+ hours on skin before breaking down a little abruptly and messily. I like it so I reapply when that happens!

Gentlemen Only by Givenchy is a very nice fragrance. The combination of incense and vetiver is spectacular. Then the dry down is soft/spicy. It smells fresh, clean and masculine. It is perfect for the office or a dinner date. Elegant verses playful.

Yawn. Spend your money elsewhere. I cannot believe a fragrance this boring has been released this late in the game. Should be about ten bucks.

Starts green and spicy, and instantly reminded me of Givenchy pour homme (red bottle). After a few minutes, turns to a nice, slightly formal, sweet violet and patchouli fragrance, surrounded by spices. I can't deny this fragrance is above average.

Not very creative or special at all. A disappointment from a high end fashion house. Take a hint from Tom Ford.

Powdery I guess? Not woody or 'animalic' at all I found. Wish i smelled vetiver too. Just synthetic. The bottle looked elegant which is why I tried it. Could be worse but it's Givenchy!!

A good modern fragrance with a touch of 90's.

The only thing I dislike in Gentlemen Only is its opening which is slightly synthetic mandarin orange. Later on it gets woody - I detect mostly green vetiver with a little bit of sweet patchouli in the background, and spicy - the mix of nutmeg and pepper is sharp and spices up the composition. Base notes is the most prominent part on my skin - the frankincense is really there and goes "hand in hand" with woods. It's interesting how it develops depending on weather - when it's cold it is more woody-smoky and in warm weather it's more green-spicy. Longevity is good, on my skin 8-10 hours with good sillage.

Highly reccomended.

Btw, it's better than its Intense version IMO.
