The opening of this fragrance is smoky, which quickly subsides to allow the clove and animalic notes to take center stage. While the smoke remains present, it lingers behind the resinous amber. Although there are supposed to be notes of cinnamon, it's hard to detect it separately from the labdanum. This fragrance has an equal mix of clove, labdanum, and castoreum, and it's difficult to determine which one takes precedence. Every note blends seamlessly with the others.

As expected of a dark fragrance, performance is good, and it's perfect for winter wear. It's geared toward the older crowd, but it's still unisex. While it might not be as divisive as other animalic scents, it's still best to test it out first instead of blind-buying. If you're a fan of animalic scents, you will likely enjoy this fragrance.

The only other Dev fragrance I've tried is Dev #4 Reprise, and I prefer it more because it lacks the animalic notes. Dev #2 is heavier, more complex, and darker, making it a good fragrance, but not suited to my personal taste.

DEVIL SCENT TWO (2012)

Olympic Orchids tells us that Devil Scent Two is “a spicy, woody, animalic scent.” I was happy to see that for once oud had been left out and the use of spices and synthetic animalics had me hoping. How naïve of me. The nasty, bitter oud note has been replaced with, you guessed it, a nasty bitter agar note.

Once again what could have been a lovely spicy animalic chypre-like scent is dominated by this sharp and thoroughly unpleasant accord. Both oud and agar resemble ammonia/spikenard/tea tree oil to my nose. I fear for the noses of today and what is being done to them. This agar accord destroys every other note and renders them undetectable. A shame after all the work and care that went into making up this composition.

A big whopping thumbs down on this nasty scent. How apt is its name, for it may go to the Devil with my blessing.

Released 2012. 20 Notes: three different kinds of labdanum, tolu balsam, black agar, woody accord, musks, synthetic castoreum, synthetic civet, cistus oil, frankincense, rose, clove, cinnamon, cardamom, cinnamon leaf, immortelle, cade, davana, leather .

A smokey, anamalic and sexy, sweet cinnamon fragrance that is great for wearing on cold Autumn and Winter nights. This is also the perfect fragrance to wear for those intimate moments.

This one has a strong scent and is not for everyone, so you might want to get the sample before purchasing the 60 ml bottle (the largest size for this fragrance).

Sillage: The fumes of Dev 2- The Main Act, will fill the room with its scent, so go easy on the number of sprays. One spray is great and two sprays is great but almost pushing it, in my opinion.

Longevity: Very, very long lasting (12-24 hours). You will easily smell this on your skin the next day.

As Epapsiou has previously stated, this very much has the feel of Comme des Garcons, that Mark Buxton-esque mix of woods and smoky incense. Devilscent #2 adds in sweet red cinnamon and clove for depth.

Most perfumes in the woody incense genre often rely on a lot of chemicals like Iso E Super and artificial woody smells, meaning that many of them smell "woody" without smelling like actual woods. Devilscent #2, however, has the familiar touchstones of the genre, but seems to be made up of actual wood and incense smells, so it has a depth and realism often lacking in its counterparts, though it comes at the cost of lesser longevity - I only get a few hours. But definitely worth a sniff.

Devilscent #2 now known as Dev #2 (I guess people are not a big fan of Devil) is a nice incense-y frag. If I had smelled it blind I would have said it is something good by Comme de Garcons. A better version of Parfum1 and Black. Much more wearable.
It is a notes galore but all I smell is a good incense, cade and subdued spices.
Well done and a must buy for incense lovers especially at the price they sell (around $60)
