There's no two ways about it, this is a sandalwood perfume, front, back and centre. It effortlessly unites both the sharper, piercing aspect of the wood's scent profile, with the also characteristic creamy sweetness. Add a few light green touches, some cedar sappiness, a whisper of pepper and a mild patchouli in the background, and it's complete. It's open and aerial and shies away from density. Simple, yes, but also calming and soothing. Not quite as arid or heat-struck as the name suggests maybe this is the open tent in the night air by the oasis' interpretation. It wears just right, the wearer being aware of it without feeling knocked out and with all-day persistence. It's as if Sonia Constant has found a way of converting the noblest aspects of a good sandalwood oil into a successful, diffusive fragrance; something others have also attempted but often with a lesser degree of success.
