Couleur Vanille

Three notes greet me right from the start and constitute the opening phase on me: a pleasant and bright freesia, a vanilla impression, and a bit of immortelle, but the latter remains rather restrained throughout. Quite nice and an opening. A touch of the fleur de sel appears transiently without making a major impact.

The drydown adds some cashmere wood, which is a bit generic though. The vanilla gains in strength with time, with touches of a vanilla orchid briefly present too.

The base sees a benzoin arising that merges with the vanilla; both work well together. At times a slightly balsamic undertone appears due to the Tolu balm, but it is more an afterthought than a significant contributor to the base notes. A splash of white musks that is evident towards the end is a bit more important though, and joins the vanilla and the benzoin to create a triadic finale.

I get moderate sillage, excellent projection, and a splendid twelve hours of longevity on my skin.

This is an agreeable autumnal vanilla scent leaning towards the gourmand genre, with some nice original touches that, unfortunately, do not materialise as one would have hoped. Solidly crafted but too generic for some stretches, but the performance is very impressive. Overall 2.75/5

A fresh vanilla, with salty white musk, that is very pleasing, ideal for summer, but as many others are. It reminds me of at least four other cheaper vanilla fragrances. Light but good performances.
