There are scents that we just fall in love from first sniff. Everything that might turn off other people would please us by sweet familiarity. One of the tricks from our olfactory memory storage. To me Civet de Nuit is one of those scents!

The fragrance starts off with aldehydes and animalic tones, such as civet and musk. Ylang ylang is there right from the start and stays firmly for hours, while heliotrope, and violet follow. A light jasmine and gardenia breeze also adds it's signature in this stage. After it's settling down, woody and oriental tones arise, Amber, hint of cola, genuine, natural sex appeal from the labdanum and civet and sweetness that is arising from the composition, not from being doused in a gourmandy one note ethyl maltol or vanillin like most of today's sweet issues.

I picture this perfume to be ideally worn by Hollywood female mega - movie stars in last century's early '20's/30's... Theda Bara, Lillian Gish, Marlene Dietrich and Greta Garbo.
