one of my favorite make a music analogy , TT fragrances aren't like playing scales and solos that bring out individual notes...TT fragrances are played like chord progressions, with accords floating around and constantly evolving and far as the notes I can somewhat identify, I smell lemon, leather, iris, honey, magnolia, oud, caramel, tobacco and resins...if i had to describe the fragrance in just a few words I would say it's a spicy Oriental with a honey/caramel flavored resiny/woody/tobacco...closest relative to this scent, to my nose , would be Xerjoff Naxos...quality ingredients and exquisite blending...add another full bottle to my wish list...

No fire breather this Chimaera, but a thoroughly blended perfume that begins with coniferous greens mixed with light spices, before letting in a honeyed sweetness. It's expansive and buffed to a high shine – individual notes cease to matter. But one must mention the balsamic base – half marzipan, half healing unguent – that lurks just beneath this dark green swirl and completes it. The oud? It's there, but one must look for it – suffice it to say this isn't an oud perfume in any traditional sense, Eastern or Western.
More nice work from this house.

Yeah, I know. Another $300 limited edition luxury oud perfume. But this is actually quite good.

It kicks off with oud, nice and rubbery without any medicinal undertones. It's not smoky or leathery like most of these sorts of perfumes. Instead, it's has just a small hint of evergreen and a quiet sweetness. Given time, the sweetness reveals itself as a mix of pie spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, and mace?). As the rubbery oud fades, a honeyed old-school musk comes in, mixing with the pie spices to create something sort of like Musk Ravageur, but more woody and masculine and not as sweet, with a hint of rubber always in the background. By the end of the day, the oud is back in the starring role, this time paired with some maple syrup immortelle.

I've quite enjoyed Chimaera. It's a very westernized take on oud, but doesn't smell cheap or dumbed down. Well worth a sniff if you're into this sort of thing.

The top notes offer an intriguing mix of green- herbal thyme and sage with hints of lime and a nice saffron; the impression is a pleasantly herbal blend. The heart notes consists of a basket of white blossoms and florals, with oleander, magnolia and peony evident in my skin. For moments I thought it would shift towards more generic side, fortunately this did not occur.

Towards the end a pleasant wood note - not oud! - with caramel makes its mark whilst eschewing excessive sweetness. There sillage is moderate, he projection adequate and the longevity is excellent at nine hours.

The blending is very well done and the quality of the raw materials is very good. Nice for spring. 3.25/5
