This is a very nice hybrid fragrance: a riff on Serge Luten's Ambre Sultan, with a dollop of a Middle Eastern "black musk" accord.

The AS herbal touches are toned down. The "black musk," which always includes fur and civet notes, is just animalic enough without being too graphic. The result is easily likable: a dark bite of gingerbread.

Longevity is excellent, and sillage is surprisingly big. This is decidedly aimed at the Middle Eastern audience, but I doubt if it will catch on since they've been doing this kind of thing more and better for ages.

My advice is to check Ajmal, Arabian Oud, and Abdul Samad Al Qurashi for smell-alikes before splurging on this. Still very good, though.
