Spicy-leathery scent that's wonderfully crafted by Prada in its "Les Infusions" series.
As the name suggests, leather and amber dominate this potion. Very wearable, full of well-chosen spices (e.g. cinnamon, coriander, cloves) and given some delicate body with its array of floral notes (a la rose, heliotrope, carnation, and iris). Oakmoss adds a dry, earthy touch. Closes up with beautiful musk, sandalwood and vanilla.
Very reminiscent of Cuir Mauresque by Serge Lutens.
Overall, great evening wear scent that is full of class!
lessened version of Cuir MauresqueI got a sample of this because I'd read that it was similar to both Cuir Mauresque and Tabac Blond: two scents I love. It does smell quite similar to the Lutens, but the Prada is sweeter and a tad more linear, and I miss the tiny pinch of cumin and animalic savor that CM provides. Prada's Cuir smells just a wee bit too much of some kind of cloying cherry flavoring. Its similarities to Tabac Blond feel even less in number. If I had never smelled CM or TB, I might be more impressed by Cuir Ambre, but as it is, it comes in a far distant third.Pros: spicy leatherCons: too sweet"
Prada's No. 3 Cuir Ambre is a fantastic scent. Don't get me wrong.
But at one sniff, I had smelled this before. Serge Lutens' Cuir Mauresque. Cuir Ambre is far too similar to Cuir Mauresque. And Cuir Mauresque is much cheaper and also good with projection and longevity.
Try both and decide which one you like better. The Lutens are eau de parfums, and are sold in 50 ml and the bell bottle, while the Cuir Ambre is a parfum and is sold in 30 ml.
Cuir Ambree is a very sophisticated and luxurious leather full of spices, iris and heliotrope in an animalic background, that i think is castoreum, and uses patchouli and moss to gives a chypre feel to the composition. The scent is very personal and stays close to the skin. The concentration is somewhat in the middle between parfum and edp, but works great when dabbed freely.
Its similar to Cuir Mauresque and Knize Ten but it has its own point of view and lots to say. If you come by in a Prada store, try it!
I really tried to like this, but just couldn't! Odd, odd notes of amber and leather mixed in a storm of pepper. Not natural pepper, but a synthetic pepper somewhat like the spray used by organic farmers to control aphids. Longevity is only adequate with breakdown occurring in 2 hours and scent is gone (fortunately) within 4-5 hours. Most certainly not worth the money.
