Introduction to Perfumery: Small Group Blending (in person)

Perfumery is a deeply historic and totally fascinating practice that has been engaged in by humans from the dawn of recorded history. Delve into the magical act of blending with our recurring small group sessions.

In these sessions, limited to six people, IAO founder Saskia Wilson-Brown walks attendees through twelve important historical materials. While we smell, Saskia will provide important context and cultural notes on each aromatic, and lead participants through an important process of verbalizing aromatics.

After we smell, participants will be encouraged to select materials, and we’ll spend the second hour learning basic lab work: how to use a scale, how to record a formula, how to assess our trials, and how to scale up.

Participants leave with a small spray vial of their favorite trial, and – most importantly – the tools and knowledge with which to start their new practice.
