Zegna's Italian Bergamot vs. new Acqua Di Bergamotto

I own both as of yesterday (the coffret version of IB and a full bottle of ADB), and I have to say, it's hard to tell a difference between them. They're both fantastic, for sure. Does anyone know if the new Acqua is replacing the Essenze Italian Bergamot? They're priced quite differently; Italian Bergamot is definitely more niche-market at $195, while Acqua di Bergamotto is more of a designer price, around $100.

i also have both and they do bear similarities. My understanding is that Acqua Di Bergamotto is the first in a new "lighter line" within the Essenze direction with more to follow in the future. It is not replacing Italian Bergamot in the standard Essenze Collection. Hence the price difference. The longevity is less than the standard collection. Just my experience

How do both fragrances compare in terms of performance?

And how does the new fragrance perform in general?

It wears lighter almost as if it were a "summer version" of Italian Bergamot. For me doesn't project or linger as much or as long as Italian Bergamot.

I suspect that being 100ml, the main purpose of Aqua is to be carried on to a plane. The original is 125ml.

I agree with this assessment. The Acqua version also has some sort of aquatic note in it that is absent from Italian Bergamot.

I will agree with this. Smells nice though.

I dismissed Italian Bergamont when I first got to test it. Then got to wear Acqua di Bergamotto for a few days. Ended up getting Italian Bergamot, it just worked out better on me.
Acqua di Bergamotto didn't last on my skin as long, and it wears lighter. To me it was worth the extra money.

I owned italian bergamot and tested the new one at Nordstrom and agreed with Hednic. It's a lighter version but I found IB light as well and perfect for summer . If can spend few more get IB.
