What's a beauty / self-care habit you know you need to break or change?

I never wear sunscreen--even when driving my convertible. I know this has to change immediately.

oh for sure plucking my legs hair, LOL. I do not like stubble but can't get professional waxing right now (budget) and am so very bad at shaving and do not like them natural either. Really need to let them go for a couple of months then either suck it up and put waxing in the budget or try just shaving (though that really did not ever work well for me). But as self-harm or anxious habits go, it seems quite harmless outlet so I am not forcing this. Will worry about it when the budget allows for the esthetician.

Maybe plenty, but almost in the other extreme-including but not limited to some overthinking of these.
To be more precise, tending to be increasingly OCD or at least overly focused on so many details of routines about shaving, skin care, use of scented and unscented products etc. as well these very habits in their entirety, that the fine line between actually needing to change and actually being oddly functional, but still fairly usable ones is often minimal.

I wash my hair too often and let the necessary good oils get depleted. This needs to change but I just don't like feeling unclean. At my age and this point of my life, what does it really matter.
Hednic, have you tried moisturizing shampoos, or conditioners? In my case, my hair is very oily, and if I miss a day or two of washing it, it's quite greasy.

Recently, I will use moisturizer as my hair cleanser, and it has worked quite well. I’m trying to cut shampooing to 3 or 4 days per week. My hair still stays clean, but has more body.

on the overwashing of hair - that is the cause of grease overproduction in most cases, so just washing less often can resolve it over time (like if you are washing everyday, skip one day first, then two). Letting the scalp settle down so it doesn't work overtime trying to put back what you took off.

But if you have short hair and scalp feels comfortable, there really isn't any point to changing, only if you have that dry scalp/oily hair thing going on. Short hair is going to be cut off years before it would suffer damage from overwashing; and you probably wash your face everyday without it being a problem.

I do my hair too often I'm sure, wash every 3-4 days but rinse and restyle most days - but thought about it one day and just decided it's a hobby - I like hair, cut my kids' hair, used to be a barber. I think I just actually LIKE styling my hair, same as I like styling other people's hair. It's good hair, I enjoy it. So I don't actually think it's obsessive or anything. Just something I enjoy & like being skilled at, same as cooking or gardening or whatever.

Also tending to over-wash hair (almost daily with little to no exception) due to being aware on one hand of having oily hair.
But also about overreacting in the direction of depleting any natural skin balance and/or less harmful oiliness by almost neurotically washing too often.

I go to sleep with the wet hair and that already has a bad influence on the quality of my hair.
Was already checking Madison Reed reviews here and probably will ask them for a professional consultation these days.
Another thing i often forget - use thermo protection in the summer, which is absolutely crucial for the quality of my hair.

Sunscreen, I need to use it more too.

On the washing of hair: I wash mine every 7-10 days. I do shower daily, I just rinse my hair most days, it's good for body and styling. I'm a guy with short hair though.

Try a cream shampoo which will be more hydrating, and won't deplete oils and dry out your hair. A popular brand in Japan is Kamika, it's little more expensive than regular shampoos.

In the U.S., Innersense Hydrating Cream Cleanser is good. The conditioner in that line (Hydrating Cream Conditioner) is the best on the market today, really an exceptional product. I condition my hair when I wash it and can rinse it out with water usually twice before having to condition again, nothing else in my life has ever worked like that on my hair. It's quite concentrated too, I use about 4 pumps from the liter bottle (about 4 TBSP), rake it into sections then rinse only the roots - stylist taught me how - but this is considerably less conditioner than I used even for leave in conditioner before.

Thank you so much for the advice. While this particular brand might still be currently unavailable or difficultly available where I (currently) live, might still further look into and for it and its nearest official retailers before a more the next more substantial hair care product (s) buy.

Cetaphil make a gentle shampoo.

One item I would recommend is taking collagen peptides like Vital Proteins which will dramatically improve skin elasticity and moisture. The collagen stays in your body for about two weeks. Place 1-2 tablespoons in a morning smoothie or coffee.

I definitely need to use sunscreen more than I do.

Although the hotter it gets down here in south GA, the less time I spend outside.
