Maybe this will change as I am just starting out. But I’ve never been a fan of fresh scents, they make me nauseous even. And I wear cologne to uplift my mood I don’t care at all about compliments. Is it ok to wear fall winter frags year round? Mainly the Invictus victory I just got and love. Just for the f*** of it I got a 10ml of Dylan blue to maybe change this. Im glad im not lost in this anymore though. I was getting bullshit hype frags like Halloween man x (DISGUSTING). In full bottles before I started getting decants to try. Halloween x is the worst thing I’ve ever smelled, burnt hair.

Wear what you love and what smells like what you want to smell like - with the caveat that fragrance performance can vary with the weather.

Apart from the fragrance itself, one consideration (for me, at least) is how it blends with the smell of my sweat/bo in hot weather. Fragrances do vary with the properties of individual skin and those properties vary with the season, as does one's individual background odor, which influences how others smell you. But that's not to say you need a fresh fragrance to smell good in hot weather - last time I moved it was August and I hadn't showered but was rocking Musk Ravageur and smelled great.

Of course. First, it’s pretty much OK to wear whatever you want, so long as you’re not loudly imposing it on people around you who can’t escape it.

Second, the designation of seasons for scents isn’t factual; it’s just a matter of conventions that may or may not have some non-binding practical aspect. You’ll know in about six months if your favorite cool weather scents work well on you in warmer weather.

Note, too, that there are many ways a fragrance can be “fresh.” While some notes and ingredients may nauseate you, you might find alternatives that please you: if you can’t stand citrus notes, you might like mint or grass notes.

Where I live it's too humid in summer to wear things like leathery fragrances or something really spicy or musky. They become too cloying. I just stick to my bitter floral chypres, which I tend to prefer anyway.

Generally, I find some types of scents are more appealing in cool weather. Last week I wore several different resinous fragrances and they performed magnificently. I wear them in summer periodically and enjoy them, but the experience is not quite as good. So, you can wear whatever you want year-round but it will be a different experience.

There are plenty of other warm weather scents besides "fresh" scents, so maybe give some of those a try... maybe ADP Colonia, or a lavendar, or a mint scent?

Perhaps in 3 months you will find Dylan Blue is a bs hype frag also?? Forget "recommenders" and sample things yourself......

I SO agree that you can wear whatever you want year round.

On a whim, I woke up this morning around 8:15 and decided to wear Mugler Cologne Come Together (2 sprays) to breakfast. Now, this is supposed to be a classic summer scent--and it is glorious indeed in hot weather IMO--but to my surprise, those 2 sprays are providing me wafts of loveliness and summer thought 10 hours later.

Wear what you want, when you want. As someone who loves powerhouse fragrances (many of which tend more “winter”), I would just say go a bit easier on the trigger in hot weather. Enjoy!

I've never really consciously thought of my fragrances in terms of seasons. I tend to wear what I want when I want to.

It largely depends on what I feel like/takes my fancy on any given day.

Of course it's fine to wear whatever you want.

I happen to prefer the kind of perfumes that I feel work best in cooler seasons and I find many of them overwhelming or cloying in warm weather. I also dislike most freshies and light florals. This means my wardrobe has loads of perfumes I love to wear in the autumn and winter, rather fewer I like to reach out in spring, and very few for summer. I've found that vintage chypres and green florals as well as some modern aromatics work for me in summer (last summer I wore Diorella, Miss Dior, Safari, sometimes Ashoka, and the new Opium edt (amber but dry, spicy and transparent enough). Summer evenings can accommodate stronger scents. It's just the way I'm wired: my 'perfume seasons' are the cool ones. I live in a moderate climate so summer is not too extreme, luckily.

Wear what you like when you like, unless your surroundings dictate otherwise, such as being in the workplace.

I’ve worn sweet scents in the heat and they’ve been wonderful

I love very strong scents with oud, patchouli, ambers, smoke, saffron etc.

But I also have grown to love freshies. So I wear anything in any weather. I don’t subscribe to certain scents being only for certain weather. I am more drawn to heavier scents in fall and winter, but I still love and wear freshies in Winter, and heavy scents in Summer.

Honestly, I started out feeling the same way! And still kind of do. The vast majority of my favorite fragrances (if not all of them) are traditionally cold-weather scents.

This is totally okay. You're allowed to wear them year-round (and whatever else you want, whenever you want). Wearing what you want, for yourself is an awesome way to improve your mood. You might find that a couple of them are too stuffy for your tastes in summer, but then you can wear another one from your collection that you've found works better.

Also, if you spend much of your time indoors in air conditioning during the summer anyway, there's way less of a seasonal impact on the wearability of your scents to begin with.

You may also find there's types of fragrances that aren't necessarily clean-laundry or men's-deodorant-calone type overbearing fresh scents (I strongly dislike those too), but that have a certain lightness to them that you especially appreciate during the warmer months. For instance, maybe you'd enjoy a simple citrus-and-herbs scent? Or something minty? Something refreshing like a sea breeze, or maybe like a garden? A lighter, more aromatic woodsy composition? Maybe a coniferous sort of wood like pine or juniper would have a freshness to it you'd enjoy sometimes in warm weather. Or maybe you'd enjoy a green or earthy, atmospheric sort of scent (Philosykos is one of my favorites that I ultimately classify as a fall scent, but that often feels really refreshing with its cool rainy-ness on a hot summer day).

Point is, wear what you like and have fun exploring year-round! There might be scents outside your usual wheelhouse that aren't necessarily in-your-face screaming freshies but still have a certain lightness or coolness to them that you might find you really appreciate in hot weather.

Wear what you like when you want, adjust sprays accordingly based on temperature.
