Ah Redneck & N.CAL your selections remind me that sage and rosemary are actually quite frequently used in perfumery, just not in the corners I tend to visit. Now Cook.bot's dill option is more exotic, I think I've only ever encountered a dill note in an Amouage scent, interesting!

I ended up with Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca, a lovey mint scent that is kept just the right side of toothpaste by a sunny lemon. I also strayed into the vegetable patch and sprayed my other arm with Sisley's Eau de Campagne, with its fabulously green tomato leaf.

I find it surprising how much shelf space Sisley has in regular fragrance stores around these parts; it's not like it's a fashionable house with a new, hot fragrance every other week, which seems to be what stores tend to focus on. I guess there are many people for whom their scents are tried and true favourites and who keep buying them over and over again.

I need to get Eau de Campagne. I have some body product of it, which is great, but I need the real thing!

it's wonderful stuff, but it annoys me to pay that price for something so short-lived. In the tomato leaf department, Ninfeo Mio is a much better value-per-ml.

In the U.S., Sisley has quite a devoted following of haute bourgeois ladies, so it's very prominent at the upper-tier department stores, like Saks and Bergdorf.

Went with a sample today, Snowy Owl by Zoologist Perfumes. It has mint and mate in it. This is one of those scents that keeps shifting and changing on my skin. I definitely get the mint but the mate has been more fleeting so far.

Switched to YSL L'Homme Ultime, which layers an elegant woody rose-sage combo over the sweet fougère of the original.

Today I'm wearing the exact opposite of the juicy herbal I wore yesterday. Sud Est by Romeo Gigli is the driest, most parched-out herbal concoction you could imagine. @LiveJazz once described it as an entire herb garden dropped into the middle of the Sahara Desert and left to dessicate.

You can almost pick out every herb in it, too: basil, rosemary, artemisia, bay leaf, thyme -- and then near the end it adds some equally dry spice, coriander and cinnamon.

It actually makes me thirsty.

Closed out this sync with the extremely herbal Bath & Body Works Botanical Blend. Clary sage is a listed note, but there is a LOT more going on!

I just looked at your wardrobe, and you have TWENTY-FIVE Bath & Body Works full bottles. They should be throwing you free product as a brand ambassador!

Although, come to think of it, you have never said that they aren't.....

LOL!

Seriously, they're quite affordable and I'm a bit locked into their "mainstream of mainstream" cult at this point. I can't afford my old Creed lover and Guerlainophile ways, but B&BW is still possible.

I do have a good number of full bottles (I love the feel), but I also buy many spray cans and smaller perfume bottles, especially on new releases before they offer full bottles, or on the women's releases that I don't wear that often.

And for sampling, the pocket antibacterial hand gels are perfect! 😜

Botanical Blend is now a unicorn. The mark of a true Bathist!

I keep a low profile with them. I did the rolodexed fragrance critic thing years ago, and the free samples, decants, and even bottles are uncomfortable mental baggage. Much better to be a truly anonymous critic. It's not that much money, and there's plenty of good low-end fare in need of cryptic reviews!

Hi all!

I am honoured to take over this weekend synch from the fabulous @SmokeAndSky, who entertained us from June 2021 to June 2022 with her inspiring themes and prompts.

In the spirit of her synch, I have created list of themes for each weekend between June 2022 and June 2023, based loosely on my own wardrobe and preferences and the seasons in my hemisphere. However, I have tried to come up with quite a few abstract and creative themes that should suit many people. I hope these themes will inspire you to see your wardrobe in a whole new light.

The idea is that you can join each weekend, either for one day or both, depending on what works for you.

I hope you will all join me on this journey!

WeekendTheme
June 4 & 5Parsley, sage, rosemary & thymeLet's start off with a palate cleanser; raid the kitchen garden for some fresh herbs!
June 11 & 12Groovy!Disco, bell bottoms & chest hair! Pick a scent that transports you back to the 70s.

July 2 & 3Wildflowers & weedsCategory is: things that grow by the side of the road
July 9 & 10Live long & prosperScent your favourite sci fi character; what would a Vulcan wear?
July 16 & 17HoneysuckleOk, this theme is entirely self serving and rather specific. I'm looking for a scent that resembles honeysuckle, and not just any type of honeysuckle, but this one:
View attachment 223671
The plants tend to be spindly, the blossoms purplish, and they smell like the nectar of the gods. I have never smelled a perfume that captures this scent, and I very much would like to. It smells different from this variety (bushy, with yellow/white flowers) of honeysuckle, which smells more lemony and jasmine like.
View attachment 223673
Also lovely, but I'm looking for the former. Anyone?
July 23 & 24Tan lines & frecklesLounging around the pool on a long, lazy summer's day

Woke up super early due to our central heating faulting again overnight and the house being very cold because of it. Decided to spritz on some Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone for the sage note. It is pretty much a skin scent now so I've changed to Slow Fire by One Seed. It is a smoked aromatic/herbal woods scent with some gourmand elements (mostly vanilla with a slight maple syrup type aroma). Fragrance notes: mandarin, basil, blood orange, black pepper, rosemary flower, fenugreek, cardamom, cedarwood, australian sandalwood, peru balsam, vanilla.

I prepared Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone for this sync, but weekend got crazy and sync did not happen for me. Got the sample in Mecca loyalty box and loved it. I only have very few quiet translucent scents, and Wood Sage & Sea Salt seems to fill that gap for me nicely. Will see how I go with the sample, and maybe get 30ml bottle. Jo Malone fragrances are ridiculously priced in AU and NZ

This weekend it's 70s time with the theme:

June 11 & 12Groovy!Disco, bell bottoms & chest hair! Pick a scent that transports you back to the 70s.

I was first thinking about something with the feel of the Burt-Reynolds-on-a-bear-rug type of 70s; something rugged and musky, but then I remembered I don't actually like to wear that sort of thing. So I decided to take a more straight forward approach and wear a typical 70s women's scent, you know, something green. Much to my surprise, Azurée, which was the first scent that sprung to mind, was actually released in 69, so that one is out, shoot! So I checked my wardrobe for a scent released int he 70s and found Chanel No. 19, which would certainly do in the green 70s category, but then I noticed Bruno Acampora's fabulous Prima T was released in 77. Of course it was! It's a perfectly unapologetic, loud, botanical green floral that feels off beat glamorous with a wild hippie edge, just what I imagine a 70s socialite to smell like.

Missed the previous sync, but luckily have enough to choose from in the current wardrobe for the 70s sync-both among the fragrances consistent with the style of this decade AND most of these actually first released during the 70s

Yeah, the various Faberges took up a huge chunk of the early '70s for me too. Woodhue, etc.

Azurée, which was the first scent that sprung to mind, was actually released in 69, so that one is out, shoot!

Noooo! Azuree would be perfect -- achieved popularity in the early '70s and had a good long run.
