Hi all!

I am honoured to take over this weekend synch from the fabulous @SmokeAndSky, who entertained us from June 2021 to June 2022 with her inspiring themes and prompts.

In the spirit of her synch, I have created list of themes for each weekend between June 2022 and June 2023, based loosely on my own wardrobe and preferences and the seasons in my hemisphere. However, I have tried to come up with quite a few abstract and creative themes that should suit many people. I hope these themes will inspire you to see your wardrobe in a whole new light.

The idea is that you can join each weekend, either for one day or both, depending on what works for you.

I hope you will all join me on this journey!

WeekendTheme
June 4 & 5Parsley, sage, rosemary & thymeLet's start off with a palate cleanser; raid the kitchen garden for some fresh herbs!
June 11 & 12Groovy!Disco, bell bottoms & chest hair! Pick a scent that transports you back to the 70s.
June 18 & 19A Midsummer Night's DreamEnchanted forests & shrewd and knavish sprites
June 25 & 26Garden party glamourWhat it says on the tin
July 2 & 3Wildflowers & weedsCategory is: things that grow by the side of the road
July 9 & 10Live long & prosperScent your favourite sci fi character; what would a Vulcan wear?
July 16 & 17HoneysuckleOk, this theme is entirely self serving and rather specific. I'm looking for a scent that resembles honeysuckle, and not just any type of honeysuckle, but this one:
honeysuckle 1.jpg
The plants tend to be spindly, the blossoms purplish, and they smell like the nectar of the gods. I have never smelled a perfume that captures this scent, and I very much would like to. It smells different from this variety (bushy, with yellow/white flowers) of honeysuckle, which smells more lemony and jasmine like.
honeysuckle2.jpeg
Also lovely, but I'm looking for the former. Anyone?
July 23 & 24Tan lines & frecklesLounging around the pool on a long, lazy summer's day

This is amazing, @yellowtone!!! I had high expectations and you exceeded them all. Another fun perfume year!
I love everything - the different themes, the nod to sci fi, the jokes and the nod to Smoke And Sky's January white florals.

As for the sticky, it has to be done by a mod, and I'm sure it will be done eventually.

Ha, I'm glad you all are happy with the themes, that means a lot!

I am looking forward to continuing this synch and I hope the themes will spark some creativity and debate. I also hope participants can share some fun stories related to the themes, I always enjoy this little views into peoples' lives.

Yay! It's almost time for the new sync's kick off. The theme this week is:

Parsley, sage, rosemary & thymeLet's start off with a palate cleanser; raid the kitchen garden for some fresh herbs!

I personally don't own any herbal fragrances. Classic fougères have never been my jam, but I have been interested in some softer, fresh green herbal offerings, such as Comme des Garçons Play Green and Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca or Heeley's Menthe Fraiche. I've smelled each of these on tester strips and liked them, but I always ended up trying something else on my arm during those smelling trips. This weekend I will visit a few local fragrance stores to see if they still carry any of them (after 2 years of not visiting stores during Covid I find collections have changed dramatically). Let's see which ones I end up trying this week!

I'm curious to hear about your herbal favourites.

Woke up super early due to our central heating faulting again overnight and the house being very cold because of it. Decided to spritz on some Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone for the sage note. It is pretty much a skin scent now so I've changed to Slow Fire by One Seed. It is a smoked aromatic/herbal woods scent with some gourmand elements (mostly vanilla with a slight maple syrup type aroma). Fragrance notes: mandarin, basil, blood orange, black pepper, rosemary flower, fenugreek, cardamom, cedarwood, australian sandalwood, peru balsam, vanilla.

Don't sweat it, YT, I can pick up ALL your slack! From the kitchen garden to the garrigue to the maquis, I've got herbal greens coming out of my ears.
Good, I need some pointers! I like the idea of herbal fragrances but I'm always too distracted by shinier (that is more floral) things.

Slow Fire sounds lovely, I've never heard of this brand.

For the kitchen garden, the one that comes to mind would be Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil.
I remember this as a nice figgy summer scent.

Excited as I love herby scents!
Great, looking forward to your pick!

Now I'm off to the fragrance shop to spray myself with some green stuff...

Congrats for the first synch!

I am wearing Lush American Cream for the clary sage and Lush Pansy for the rosemary this morning - each on different arms. (and a little bit of Pansy on my neck, too as I like it more because of its lovely balmy drydown.)
These are solid perfumes that were inexpensive to begin with (and Pansy was additionally discounted and cost me 6€) so I'm kind of double synching for this and for Friday's cheap cheap day :)

Edit:
I showered in the noon and changed into Ange ou Demon by Givenchy for it has a lovely opening with mandarin and thyme (and saffron).

Congrats for the first synch!

Indeed! To kick it off, I am absolutely drenched in my very favorite eau de cologne that's heavy on the kitchen herbs, and it's one I would have never expected to love so much: dill ! And amazingly, it does not make you smell like a pickle. It just smells super crisp and green, slightly astringent, and very, very cooling.

Eau de Lalique

I love this stuff so much that this summer I'm probably going to need my second 200ml bottle.

Now switching to Vetiver Rosewood by Thymes, which has a "grey sage" note. This is also a nice, quality cheapie that I got even cheaper on clearance at Ulta.
