Moustache 'Original 1949' EDT by Rochas

This earns a spot in the vintage forum roll-call solely by virtue of its lineage. It's a thoroughly unisex, bowdlerized version of the original Moustache, shorn of all its mammalian skank and overripe-fruit funk. But I still admire its citrus freshness, and its greenish (violet leaf) heart, not to mention I still think it's the best bottle presentation of male perfumery so far in the 21st century.

+1 for bowdlerized I had to look that word up!

If I don't particuarly like animalics would I be better off trying the rereleased version rather than the original vintage? I'm a big fan of citruses and have always wanted to try this.

I concur with the idea of this being a good Contemporary take on this old Vintage favourite.
It certainly is bottled handsomely.
As to it being entered in the Vintage Forum I'm not so sure it
belongs here.
I wonder what Papsi's thoughts are?

That would get an unqualified "yes" from me. The original is pretty skanky, and this modern one is very fine, IMO. Be aware there's both an EDT and EDP. The EDT is by far my preference, the EDP being decidedly more floral.

I could understand an argument against it. It's a nepo baby, trading on its parentage and name.

John Sterling, John Sterling. 1984.

Layering after-shave with eau de toilette.

The after-shave has amazing qualities: cooling, smoothing, and the scent itself: leather-floral-tobacco leaves. Absolutely unique, to my nose.
Beware, however: there is another bottle exactly similar to this one, with the same name, but the scent is totally different. I'll open a thread about this oddity.

PM me your address and I'll send you my bottle if you want me to, mate. 75ml, about 3/4 full. But be warned, it might take up to 2-3 weeks to reach you as I'm seriously busy lately! :)
Thank you, that is very kind, I shall contact you in pm!
