Hello Friends!

I have an itch for Guerlain’s Tonka Imperiale. It’s from their luxury lineup and goes for a cool $380 USD.
I have a few Guerlain decants, samples and a bottle of Neroli Outrenoir, which I adore!
Is this overpriced and ridiculous? In my opinion, yes. However, I can justify it as an anniversary present. Ha!
Do you have this? Do you think it’s worth it, on principle or otherwise? I’d love your thoughts.

I appreciate your feedback!

EDIT:
I called Guerlain and asked them if they would be making this in the 75ml, as they have with many of the others. She said it doesn’t sell that well, so they probably won’t. I bet they will eventually make all of them in the smaller size….Probably a week after I bought it.

I'd like to know this too, I've been eyeing it. Thanks for asking CreeTee.

I've read there's some similarity to L’instant de Guerlain Pour Homme (I think), which I already have.... and would take it off my buy list.

Absolutely worth it imo - own it and easily one of the best fragrances in my collection. I have the 75ml, cant speak for the new reform. No similarities to LIDG(E), which I also both own, at all for me.

It is worth it. You can get a smaller size (20 ml I believe) from their flagship store in Paris - there is a lady that does shopping in Paris and brings them back. it is a much more economical way in my opinion, albeit you do not get a fancy bottle.

It's a very nice scent, but I wouldn't buy more than 30 ml of it as I can't see myself wearing it regularly enough to finish 100 ml. Also wish it were just a little more abstract like the classic Guerlains.

I'd love it, but I already have Feve Delicieuse in my collection, which is very very similar (and costs less).

Hmm. I thought it would be pretty with the green cord, but….meh.

You are hooked!
What?? It doesn’t hurt to simulate the experience. 😇
And now I’m thinking I might just get decant because the bottle attractiveness doesn’t really meet the cost/benefit ratio.

Does the cord actually close anything, or is it just there as a decoration?

I say, if you can afford it, buy it. No one every leaves this world, screaming, "I should have bought less perfume, art and chocolate!!"

For a gourmand it's certainly worth owning if you like these kind of fragrances. Personally I'd hunt down one of their earlier 75ml bottles.
I don’t have many gourmand frags and I love the aromatic top notes. Surprisingly, there wasn’t much on eBay. Any ideas on where else I could source one of those?

@AndyL - I looked for decants last night and wow! Anything decent sized was $80+.
And unattractive, to say the least. Ugh.

Well.... then a full bottle purchase only makes sense ;)

There's a brand new bottle on eBay for $339. Save ya $40.

I was looking at buying of Apres l'Ondee from the Legendaries Collection - well you can pick 3 sample frags with the purchase but Tonka Imperiale is not available for sample
