Love Bacarat Rouge 540m but for me Aqua Universalis Extrait De Parfum.
Sadly none of those are in the discovery set. The problem with this set for me is that about three to four of them smell like slight variations of the same theme. My other two favorites for everyday use were grand soir and gentle fluidity gold, but I have other fragrances just like them.Masculin Pluriel
Anything you liked about it in particular?L'Homme A la Rose out of those for me.
Elegant, refined, effortless .... a fresh rose seamlessly blended in with a high quality fresh woody amber that, whilst synthetic, carefully avoids the pitfalls of so many others from Sauvage to Dylan Blue. Definitely mainstream-ish, but very high quality and enjoyable to me. Naturally, won't work if one dislikes rose or fresh woody ambers.Anything you liked about it in particular?
This turned out unfortunately to be my least favorite from the set.
I love rose and have a bunch of rose fragrances and woody ambers I'm ok with. I honestly didn't think any of the fragrances in the set were bad though, and i agree with you that it is effortless. A lot of the fragrance in the set are actually really easy to wear and hard to truly dislike.Elegant, refined, effortless .... a fresh rose seamlessly blended in with a high quality fresh woody amber that, whilst synthetic, carefully avoids the pitfalls of so many others from Sauvage to Dylan Blue. This would probably be my winner, but I have two fragrances that are extremely similar and one that is nearly identical, that's why it's fuller than the BR540 vial.Grand Soir
When a perfume house says “unisex” take it with a grain of salt until you see for yourself. Unisex fragrances are generally women’s fragrances that lean a bit to men’s. Men that wear the 540 fragrance look foolish IMO.These are universally horrible for me.
Yes, a lot of these modern fragrances are sharp because of the aromachemicals they use, and the degree of perceived sharpness is subjective. Toy Boy is an excellent pick.I love rose and have a bunch of rose fragrances and woody ambers I'm ok with. That being said, what put me off with l'homme a la rose, was an extremely sharp note that increasingly comes off screeching and slightly acrid. I wouldn't have minded it so much probably if I didn't already have alternatives like toy boy by Moschino which is similar in what it is trying to achieve, but to me it is smoother and well, more elegant.
You are doing very well, trust me.I haven't tried Dylan blue or sauvage, perhaps I should? 😄
Definitely agree with all of that. I do like Grand Soir and feel exactly the same as you about all the others you mention, although I didn't mind Masculin Pluriel.Grand Soir.
There's something in all the fresh scents that rubs me the wrong way. There's a syntheticness that is piercing to my nose. Tried the aqua vitaes, aqua universalis, gentle fluidities, and masculin pluriel.
