Pre-synching with Lubin Gin Fizz.

The citrus/juniper opening, for the brief moment it appears on my skin, is reminiscent of a citrus-dominant gin drink (specifically thinking Junipero).
Dries down to a creamy iris/rose floral, then disappears.

There are quite a few fragrances I love to wear in the summer heat, such as Still Life (Olfactive Studio), L' Humaniste (Frapin) or Note de Yuzu (Heeley). Those are definitely fresh, but when I need a "cooling effect"... neroli immediately comes to mind !

I enjoy wearing Mugler Cologne in bed after a shower when temperatures are too high, It gives me that clean / refreshing vibe... especially when combined with freshly laundered linen 😁

Other options like Colonia Essenza (Acqua di Parma), Artisan Pure (John Varvatos) or Mediterranean Neroli (Ermenegildo Zegna) seem to work as well.

Pre-syncing with one of my favorite summer freshies at any price: Zara Vibrant Leather Summer. It's like dipping your head in a bucket of iced lemonade. Piercing, almost bitter citrus; a whiff of fizzy ginger; clouds of puffy white musk with some light ambrox padding; and a base of clean, barely-there cedar. Basically a minimalistic modern citrus EDC, very much in line with Dior Homme Cologne, but this has a bit more heft, lasts much longer, and costs much less. I've got a massive 125ml bottle that will last a good long while, but Zara should really bring this back in some form.

I presynced today with Encens Flamboyant from Goutal, a deep, fresh, nearly spicy frankincense.
Tomorrow will be as warm as today so I might wear one of various options:
- Mortel, Trudon
- Choc, Cardin
- Cédrat, Roger et Gallet
- Moustache, Rochas
- Vétiver, Guerlain
- Shalimar Philtre de Parfum
- Shalimar Cologne
- Farouche, Ricci
- Ce Soir ou Jamais, Goutal
- Le Chèvrefeuille, Goutal
- Perles, Lalique
- 4711, Cologne Lime and Nutmeg

Friday's arrived. I am working from home in a comforting cloud of Samsara EDP by Guerlain. The weather is ripping and spitting outside from time to time, sheer curtain over the courtyard bi-fold is fluttering in the wind, cat is migrating in and out to bask in a few rays of sun, or hide from a sudden rain spell. This is a typical winter day in Auckland - all seasons in a day.

I went with Antonia by Puredistance. It's a green floral, more floral than No. 19 but has a cool, fresh vibe to it. In fact it reminds me a little of Fidji, too. And besides, it is very elegant so it suits an occasion where I'm speaking. :) The weather her is a bit chilly anyway so I don't feel like adding to the freshness with citrus.

l had several options for today, notably fig fragrances which l always find very cooling, but l wore a couple of those for last week's synch. There's also the citrus-herbal options like Eau du Sud or Tom Daxon's Laconia. But l've gone for Greek Keys by Sarah Baker: it has citrus & herbal aspects, but these are wafting on a salty ocean breeze. Calone-haters would probably find this intolerable as it has huge projection, but judiciously applied l find it helps cut through the brain fog that heat & humidity can induce. 🍋🌿🌊

Re-syncing with the new summer freshie Love Always Wins by Bath & Body Works.

This is a lot like Fresh Getaway, which I really love. It's less sweet, and less coconutty, but still cool, and perfect for today's sync.

Part of the reason I bought this one, was the fact that a friend of mine, who I had actually gotten into fragrance, used to frequently say that line - "Love always wins."

He was a great guy. Everybody loved him. Very giving, very kind, very popular, very cool. Sadly, he was a victim of the dreaded "died suddenly". I used to be kinda bitter about that. But now I try to be a bit more like him every day.

Have a great day, everybody! 🍺
