Sprayer Question

Hello fellow Basenoters.

I have recently bought a vintage bottle of Bel Ami, from a reputable seller. The smell itself, as well as the bottle and overall condition is amazing, no doubt. However, there is a little thing that drew my interest, so i wanted to ask if that's something that you have experienced personally.

While the sprayer is fully functional and sprays like it should, there is tiny bit of juice coming out of the nozzle itself when the bottle just stands still. It's a hardly noticeable amount, just a bit of oil showing up. When i turn the bottle upside down or put it horizontally, nothing happens, no leaks, bubbles, nothing at all. But even after i spray, clean the nozzle completely and put it in the drawer, the next morning a bit of the oil is there again.

Any insights will be appreciated.

It happens from time to time and with different brands. Since there is perfume all the way from bottom of the tube thats in the bottle to the nozzle itself - occasionally a tiny bit will come out because of pressure and non hermetic tube to nozzle connection. Keep your cap on and think of it as a way to smell perfume without spraying it.

So it is safe to say it is rather normal?

I like this explanation, makes sense. I don't think it's a problem, as the OP says the fragrance doesn't seem to be actually leaking, and it's only a teeny-tiny bit that comes out. I've noticed this happen before on one or two other bottles, but didn't pay it much attention.

Yes, that makes total sense. I now recall that i may have had something similar with my modern Fahrenheit bottle back in the day, but didn't pay much attention to it anyway since i wasn't that picky before.

Its not a preferred outcome, but yes, its normal.
Agar de noir, sayat nova, musk lave, overture, bogue are some bottles that have it. Some dry out and create a "film" that i need to remove before spraying, others just dry to a move oily spot that i just wipe before spraying, but apart of that no evaporation or juice degradation happened.

Just a quick update on this thread - the juice has apparently stopped showing up on the nozzle now, 4 days after the bottle was received. Maybe it had something to do with the transportation, or maybe it was something else, but it is now back to normal.

As a side note, i thought of something here. If the perfume is planned for long time storage (a couple of newer back up bottles in the arsenal, so the vintage juice can rest for a long time), wouldn't it be a good decision to turn the bottle upside down and spray the juice out of the sprayer tube until it's all gone and the air is all that's left? Wouldn't it allow to avoid any stalled juice in the pipe?

Has anyone practiced it before?

Thank you.
