And ohh my, how boring is the last 10 years, thought I go for a new marine/freshy one.

I think I smelled 20 different fresh/marine and they where all just ohh so boring, the formula last decade just keep on going, fresh is now sweet and marine is now just I don't know, not marine..

I tried from memory: all the aqua/marine from bvalgari, they at least was not so sweet but just didn't catch me at all.
Next dior sport, what in gods name was that....
Next was I think all the new cks, Tommy's and so many more I don't remember all, but yeah disappointing to not find one single one where I go: ohhh yes this is fresh or this is marine.

The closes I got yesterday was legend spirit by mount blanc, that one was very pleasant and somewhat fresh and nice without sweet, very good, but not what I was after, but not so far off.

And pls don't tell me to try náutica or something with the synthetic apple/marine ugghhh that one is just to sweet and not real marine or fresh.

I think still my favorite from last year's is still light blue before reformulate version, the new light blue intenso is also quite good, but it's all been done before, tart and lemon... Yes it's good, but its not new..

Any suggestions?

I hate they reformulated the orginal polo sport, now that's a fresh i can never get tired off, yes it's old but damn its so fresh!

On a positive note, I tried the m7 oud from ysl, and ohh boy did it bring back memories from the old original m7, very pleasantly surprised(from memory it seemed very alike just a hint less herbal and a hint more oud, more refined in a way) , think I will need that one in the future, and the irony it's very sweet yes 🤣 but when I dress up on a Saturday then sweet and gourmet, it's another thing 👌

M7 Oud Absolu — buy immediately. Don’t wait til it’s priced sky high on the aftermarket.

Some fresh fragrances I like:

Givenchy Insense Ultramarine
Creed Erolfa
YSL M7 Fresh
Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cologne. The Sport one is good, too.

I get a "marine" vibe from this one. I would say it's more a blue-green smell, if that makes sense.

Discontinued but easy to find, and cheap, on the grey market. This one is really out the way in terms of smell, as it's not something you'd typically think of as "pleasant" smelling. I think it's a chypre, and even has a bit of a peppery dry down. But it very much smells like it should be associated with salt water and maybe seaweed. More artistic and interesting than something you'd have in your weekly rotation. But if you can get it for real cheap, maybe it's worth a blind buy.

Have recently been enjoying Kenzo PH, Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise Men and the Givenchy Insense Ultramarine aftershave (I find the EDT too overpowering somehow). Try sampling those if you haven't.

Got a 10ml travel spray of Creed Millesime Imperial recently and was almost shocked to discover what recent formulations are like! Not as bad as Milestone, but definitely a big drop in quality from when I last had a large sample around 2016. I think I even slightly prefer Sean John's Unforgivable to this stuff!

I tend to agree. I like some of the marine aquatics, like Oud Minerale, but for the most part the aquatic market has taken a big nose dive in the last 10-15 years. Most niche aquatics seem to be feminine as well, which is a real kick in the teeth. Bvlgari Aqva has been reformulated in to oblivious as well.

If I had something to recommend I would...but I don't. 🤪

EDIT: Actually you might want to try Ralph Lauren's Deep Blue and AdG's Profondo. They're both pretty similar, ambroxan-heavy aquatics. Not great but two of the better ones I've tried.

Versace’s Dylan Blue might worth a spritz if you haven’t tried it. And I would also recommend Azzaro Chrome Legend, except it has a strong apple note. And for a far more recent release, H24, though not marine or blue, is also great for summer.

And I agree with the above that M7 Oud Absolu is in a class by itself. 🙂

Indeed. Of all recent reformulations, Creed's MI has been reformulated to an unrecognisable air freshener. Such a shame as it was a beautiful scent at its peak. Times change... Creed changes.
