QED Violetta! I've also got one... yes, it (still) does smell "amazing". Were you in on the group buy at B&B?
Yes, I did get in on that group buy. It is a great scent for sure! I wish Charles was still making his wonderful soaps.

Great looking shave there, Ed! I have not seen a DE like that before. Is the handle longer than that of a Merkur long handled slant as an example?

It looks very nice and the cutaway detailing is cool. 😎
Thank you Padron!

I believe the slender Yaqi Excalibur SE is inspired by the Blackland Vector and RazoRock Hawk SE razor... Smooth and guarded in my experience.

I'm not familiar with the Merkur slant handle; here it is tailored at 3.6 inches and the overall length under 3.8 inches... A comfortable fit for any hand. Certainly, one has to pay attention to the alignment and then it's smooth sailing. Truly fun off the bat for me and has become a favoured choice these past few months. I consider it mild and perfect for anyone looking to experience the Feather Pro SE or Kai in a safe and cool format (of course, technique/angle matters matters).

BTW loving the pics!

Oooh I really love this base, markb... I've been curious about the roster ever since I got my hands on the lovely spicy green Fougère Nemeta.
I heard this is a nice twist on the barbershop... How is it for you scentwise? Hmm, Autumn Ash and Samhain are other ones I'm interested in.

Thank you, Ed. Really appreciate the detailed information and your thoughts on the razor. It looks really nice. 👍 I will have to read more about it.

The merkur long handle slant I use most is on the right in the photo below. I like it a lot, I guess it is more aggressive for a DE.

Enjoying your photos as well!

Blade: BiC single-blade disposable
Brush: Plisson #12 in Pure Black Badger
Suds: QED Mocha Java
Scent: Jo Malone Black Vetyver Café

20221003-BSBPlisMJBVC.png I selected the Black Vetyver Café because it shares two common notes with the Mocha Java: Chocolate and Coffee; both of which will be easy for me to carry through with other fragrances as the morning gives way to afternoon, evening, and finally, to night.

Very "barbershopy" but instead of normal sage it's burnt sage, so there's a (slight) smokey quality to it. It's not heavy and not unpleasant. If you've ever used sage to "smudge" with, you'll know what I'm talking about. Great scent and soap!

Great shave this morning. It's nice jumping back into the warmer Autumn scents. Kinda like wrapping up in a warm blankie. 😌 Great lather and scent from the Oz Shaving "40 Crows". Warm amber with hints of oakmoss, fruit and patchouli. Three passes and I finished with a splash of Clubman Pinaud Reserve "Cognac Neat" and a spray of Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur. Wonderful!

Hope you have a great day.

Fantastic shave this morning. Broke out Noble Otter's "Thé Noir et Vanille". Been a while since I had last used it and wanted to take care of that. Excellent lather and scent. Three passes with the Tech and I finished with the matching splash and a spray of Viktor & Rolf "Spicebomb" EdT.

Hope you have a wonderful day. :)

Great shave this morning. Went with Southern Witchcrafts "Tres Matres", an olfactory homage to the Argento movie "Suspiria". Warm amber and fruity top with a dry, earthy base. Three passes with the Tech and I finished with a splash of Skin Bracer "Cool Spice" after shave (+ skin food) and a spray of "Lagerfeld Classic".

Hope you have a great day. :)

Fantastic shave this morning. Great lather and scent from the Stirling soap. Three passes with the Gillette '34 New OC and finished with a splash of vintage Avon "Brisk Spice" after shave (+ skin food) and a spray of Pascal Morabito "OR BLACK".

Hope you have a great day. :)

Great shave on this Friday! Surprising too because I was in a rush this morning and that's usually when bad shaves happen. Luckily, that was not the case. Lovely lather and scent from the "Carmilla" soap. Three passes with the Tech and I finished with a splash of Aqua Velva "Musk" After Shave (+ skin food) and a splash (gotta get a refillable atomizer to put this in) of vintage Avon "Black Suede" EdC.

Hope you have a great day. :)
