My impression is that the distilled oil of Rosa alba smells softer and rounder than the regular Bulgarian Damascena oils, which often have a heavy, wine-like and almost bready character. Alba oil is more comparable to oils from Morocco and Turkey. I have the Bulgarian oils from R. alba and R. damascena compared on the scent strip and found no significant differences in longevity. However, the low content of farnesol in R. alba is noticeable in the base note. Since I really like this farnesol note in rose oils, this is a slight disadvantage of Alba oil for me.My alba rose smells like rich pink geranium/rose+cold black tea.
My observations: the substativity is much lower than the Bulgarian and Turkish roses. I like all roses)
