Hello, good day!
Recently my partner have been looking for a way to refill a reed diffuser he bought a while ago, and he was refered to a popular dupe fragrance house that also sells home scents, when he asked about essences for reed diffusers he was sold an essential oil/fragrance oil and the girl told him to mix it with water (?).
Of course the recommendation of the lady didn’t work, and the scent is not evaporating at all since there’s no way for it to do so. I have navigated the recommendations made in the forum and found that the most recommended chemicals for reed diffuser scents are not available for sale at my country (I am referring to Dowanol, MMB, etc).
So, for the moment we’re just looking to use this fragrance oil and I guess we’ll have to surrender to buying next time from Bath and Body Works or somewhere else, it’s like a monopolium.
The official website of the scent producer recommends 15% essence and the rest with 95% alcohol. But that just makes me wonder if that’s going to be pleasing at all since alcohol is really odorous.
Another thing I want to ask is: My partner decided to search for alternatives for commercial reed diffusers due to the high prices in certain stores (I understand the prices due to the high concentration of these scents), so he went to my favorite perfume store and bought their home scents, which are alcohol-based, however, my partner decided to not continue with their scents since 140ml evarated completely in less than a week, the bottle wasn’t kept in the heat or near hot sources, I know nothing about reed diffusers, so is that a normal duration or would you call that fast?
TLDR:
- Dowanol, MMB and others are chemicals not sold in my country, what are your recommendations to mix a fragrance oil for a reed diffuser?
- Local producers recommend making the solution with ethanol, wouldn’t that be counterproductive?
- What is the average duration a bottle of reed diffuser fragrance for it to be considered good?
