Hello all,

Has anyone tried the Indian Sandalwood and/or isolated santalol from perfumer's supply house? If so, what are your thoughts? I've ordered different things (mostly Robertet materials) from PSH and everything has been top notch, and so I wouldn't expect anything less but I understand good quality Indian sandalwood can be difficult to obtain.

I wanted to touch base here before pulling the trigger, thanks!

I've had the santalol from Christine and really liked it. I sampled the Indian sandalwood (from Arora Aromatics) to compare against the Mysore sandalwood that I sell and while I think Christine's is very good, I opted to go with a different bulk supplier (FP Aromatics). Christine's price, however, is unbeatable even if the products are from different regions.

I'd say that the Indian Sandalwood EO from PSH is a good example of authentic & genuine Santalum album essential oil, especially if you take in account the price. Please be aware that this very oil doesn't smell 'special' or extraordinary, it's just plain sandalwood. (Maybe, there's some kind of misunderstanding (or unrealistic expectations) if it comes to Santalum album oils.)

The isolated Santalol ex Santalum album from PSH is a lovely material and a bit more potent than the essential oil.

Santalol is synthesised by a couple of companies nowadays, there is no point to buy the natural one anymore.

Isobionics were the first to synthetise Santalol, it was announced on 2020 but they had issues to commercialise it, I lost the track since then.
Any news about that? Can you share the names of these companies and may be the way to sample some? Is it in the retail market?

Firmenich makes Santalol too and uses in in the Dreamwood base.
