Also further adding the puzzling, likely troubled yet wonderfully complex vintage unisex Sandalwood by Crabtree & Evelyn.

Both the early 1970s Mysore version, as much as the early 2000s updated, reformulated take on this-either of these worthy any (re) testing list.

I'd try Grossmith's Hasu no Hana or Phul Nana.

Their Shem-el-Nessim is a gorgeous take on L'Heure Bleue, but it doesn't have the throw and persistence you want.

+1 on Bal a Versailles

My personal choice would be Guerlain Nahema. It is rich gorgeous rose and definitely is blended with other notes that are “otherworldly”.

@boui_boui & @Starblind have already made the suggestions that I would have, especially Grossmith is old school perfumery.
I will add few more:
- Rochas Femme
- Hiram Green Vivacious is a very retro 1920’s vibe
- Hiram Greem ShangriLa is a chypre and drydown reminds of vintage Femme
- Rogue perfumery’s Chypre-Siam

And @_Nicolas_ suggested L’Aimant! What a blast from the past. Thank you for reminding me.
Let me suggest another…an amazing perfume no one talks about, and its a rotten shame: Rochas’ Parfum Sacre, dusty rose-incense. Those glorious perfume filled urns… Caron’s demise has been hard to bear.
And a bow to Caron’s talent and ingenuity… by sampling Parfum

Big fan of Parfum Sacre
Badgley Mischka is a childhood memory of the fur coats in a pile on the bed at a large family party.
Not considering newer offerings/reformulations-
Quelques fleurs
Replique
I would put many classic offerings from Caron and some from Guerlain in this category. Reformulations aside -
Narcisse Noir
Bellogia
Fleurs de Rocaille
Narcisse Blanc
Nuit de Noel
etc...
L'heure bleue
Apres l'Ondée
Mitsouko
Vol de Nuit
etc...
I love this 'category' as it reminds me of how it all began.

Read through the thread and from the samples OP ordered i have seen nothing thats reminiscent of old age. Oud satin mood is very sweet, so that hoes off the list.

Starblind practically read my mind, Grossmith is the house amongst thousands that i tried is the closest one to make me think of 19th century. Then Bal a versailes and 31 rue cambon.

I mentioned it in the other thread, but Lyric Woman. Really :)
Yes, I agree. It's wonderful.

Another really good (and strong!) Amouage is Epic. It's spicy, and took me a few tries to fall in love with it but personally I'd put it head and shoulders above anything by MFK.

And, if you don't mind a bit of sweetness, La Douleur Exquise by Les Abstraits is gorgeous.

Yes these are really gorgeous (though eye-wateringly expensive).
