brand new release that may be noteworthy due to the person behind it. sometimes his mainstream offering stay very mainstream (Coolwater Parfum) but sometimes they're pretty damn good (Chrome Aqua). will review in a few days but hopeful with no ambroxan or tonka in the notes.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately not a fan of this house, so this would be a definite pass for me.

I genuinely like the bottle and have found a couple in this house to my liking, like their Leatherware series of 01, 02, and 03. Will try this when I see it. But wonder if they're just going to smell like modern fragrances given the notes. Here's to hoping!

I like the look of the bottle and sprayer, but the marketing mumbo-jumbo and notes sound awfully boring.

got a decant and immediately bought a bottle. this is the closest scent to Aventus Herault has made and it's amazing for the money. think a budget Aventus with no pineapple that leans on the fruity/apple accord (which to my nose was always the best & most dominant note). so before everyone else clocks on there it is. this isn't as fancy at the top or bottom but the DNA which is particularly present in the mid is unmistakable. and the base is actually pretty damn good, woody enough that you get a fruity-woody accord all the way through.

Got mine today, will give a full wear tomorrow. From testing, I like it. Good value for the money. More when I have given it a proper wear

I'm just going to assume JC Herault didn't get much creative direction for Aventus, so I'm going to assume it is primarily his idea. I feel more interested in giving his Aventus copycat that other perfumers trying to do that same.

feels like Aventus has a lot of Bourdon in there considering he was mentoring & working with Herault in the years leading up to it. there's a captive musk in Aventus new at the time that Creed insisted on, with Herault also wanting to use ambergris (as recounted in the book).

but yeah what you smell in the heart, the fruity stuff, is Herault and that's what comes through in this. mainstream enough DNA but the base is well judged & the apple is up there with what you smell in Aventus. performance is soft which will be a deal breaker for many but personally it's fine. great smell.

In a way, it could parallel what Pierre did with Green Irish Tweed and Cool Water.

those two are pretty damn similar as far as being a deluxe & cheap/barebones take on the same thing.

most people will struggle to find a connection with Aventus here, methinks. there's no pineapple, blackcurrent, jasmine, musk, ambroxan etc etc. i'm sort of making a big deal because I haven't smelled this aspect of Aventus in any of Herault's other scents and it happens to be my favourite part of Aventus. though it's bit more than just apple, we have a peppery woody thing which carries through to the base and creates quite a rugged drydown.

still quite a difference overall so interested to hear what others think. i do know I would much rather wear this than something loud & screechy like MB Explorer which doesn't have pineapple either and certainly doesn't have the apple. in fact nobody will be able to name an Aventus clone with a comparable apple to the original or even this because it doesn't exist.

You are singlehandedly making me really want to chase this down.

i also got the 100ml size, very well priced. here they also have this free cap, made from a felt type material. you need a good amount of this as it's best to spray liberally. i killed my 10ml decant and started eating into the 40ml bottle very fast.

This one is pretty good. Very woody and aromatic. Cedar and vetiver are strong here. This smells similar to K by D&G. Not similar to Aventus in my opinion. I don't get any Aventus facets here. Explorer do play Aventus chords but this one it's K all the way. But i prefer this over K since it's not that harsh. There's some material that smells cheap in K and here the scent is pleasant and well balanced. A woody aromatic modern fragrance that plays safe but with nice quality overall. I like it.

there's been some varying opinions on what this thing smells like. thankfully everyone thinks it smells pretty damn good, performance notwithstanding! i'm sticking with the apple-woods thing which i love so much from Aventus. it's a very delicious, tangy sort of apple which is hard to pull off. and how it's balanced off the woody note in the drydown is perfect. i'm also getting more of a lavender which is what came through as a slightly soapy sort of finish. good enough to invest in the balm, didn't expect the tube to be this big!

definitely my favourite new release of the year. just like Herault's Chrome Aqua it's not trying to be fancy it's just finessing that fruity note in such a pleasing way.

Tried this at Ulta yesterday. The above is fairly close to my experience: D&G K mixed with some Dior Homme 2020. I prefer it to both on paper. Have not tried it on skin. The bottle is nice.
